Mill Farm Camping: Beckside camping with electric hook-up

General

  • Peaceful Norfolk campsite with scenic lakes and streams
  • A 10-minute drive from the Blickling Estate; Mundesley 15 minutes
  • On-site natural fishing and tennis court available

With several lakes and streams spread around the 27 well-maintained acres on site, it’s all about the peaceful pace at Mill Farm Camping in scenic north-east Norfolk. From here, you’ll be well set to map out the way to many scenic places, including the Norfolk Broads (boat hire and watersports are ways to get out on the water here) or local seaside towns.

The area around the small village of Felmingham, where this site is located, has lots of things to do itself, too. Depending on your mood, you could explore nearby coastal towns like Mundesley, Cromer and Sheringham, stroll 25 minutes down the road to the local pub or visit ornate country houses like the nearby Blickling Estate.

Back at base, there are ample leisure opportunities for activities like natural fishing (although the site's waters are not maintained as a fishery) and tennis. Cyclists and walkers won't have to go far to get some exercise either, as Mill Farm Camping has very good access to the local network of north Norfolk footpaths and public rights of way.

Facilities here include smart toilets and hot showers for ladies and gents, a washing-up area with hot running water and a chemical disposal point. Mill Farm Camping is also pet-friendly and welcomes dogs throughout the camping season.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

No electric barbecues allowed.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Twin axle caravans are allowed; unfortunately twin axle motorhomes are not permitted.

It's not possible to charge electric cars with the electric hook-up on the pitch.

The setting: it comprised of several ponds/lakes and waterways. The shower/toilet block was neat and tidy and I never had to queue! You could purchase fresh eggs and see an abundance of wildlife.

    Disliked:

Some families on site (pitch 7) did not abide by the quiet hours and had us up each morning at 5.45/6am. Not ideal.

Toilets and showers very clean, 2 showers for ladies and 2 showers for men but it worked, always went for shower and got straight in, didn't need to wait.
Quiet site, peaceful, nice lakes to walk around, water and electrics on each pitch which made things very easy.
Big pitches, great location, and lovely people running site.
Tennis courts and tennis rackets etc supplied, books and games for free to borrow, freezer on site to use.
Can walk to pub which is a 25 minute walk on quite a rough public footpath but had a laugh and made it fun (wear trainers if your going to do this)

    Disliked:

Chemical waste disposal quite a long walk (so take a trolley)
Rubbish bin seemed to get full up very quick and attracted lots of wasps during the day
No WIFI or service on phone
Would of liked a washing machine on site

Surrounded by nature, very peaceful and beautifully laid-out. Well placed for all the sights of North Norfolk. Exceptionally friendly owners and longer-term residents.

    Disliked:

The ablution block is only just sufficient for the numbers who may be staying in peak season, pick your time to avoid queuing for showers or sharing a sink!

Very nice site, lots of good and clean facilities.14/08/2022

The views and scenery were lovely, it had a non commercial feel to it, very natural and rural. Generous size pitches. The facilities are good; there is a warm heated showers - there’s one block for toilets and showers and two showers each for ladies and mens which isn’t a lot but there was never a queue. The washing up area is generous and warm and never got a queue. The toilets were lovely and clean and to a good standard. It was near to lots of nice things to do; 30 minutes to Cromer, Sheringham, Holt, and Norwich and an hour to Wells. Two national trust things within 10 minutes. The check in is easy, you just call to the front door and they give you a helpful map. There is a freezer to change your ice blocks in which is helpful. And we saw people fishing, which is nice if you’re interested in it. The pitch was level and very comfortable - so we slept very comfortably and well every night. It is also dog friendly which is very nice. The price for this place is very reasonable and bargain for such a nice place. We would definitely stay again.

    Disliked:

The booking was a little disorganised potentially, we asked to stay another night (to pay for it obviously) and I know it’s difficult to see whose coming in and out but it was a bit of a long process finding out if we could or not - which is understandable but the customer service was a tad prickly. We were told off about having 3 cars (again understandable) but I wasn’t told I could park my car in a car park area - which I would have to help with room. But overall was reasonable and I don’t feel we were unreasonably denied or anything. It is a very ‘fend for yourself’ atmosphere , like you can’t really knock on to ask for anything but if you’re comfortable with that, which we were tbh it’s fine. If you have very small children there is no play area - ours are older so we don’t mind but it’s something to think about if that matters to you.

Local attractions

For everything coastal, you’ll want to home in on Comer (20 minutes' drive). Whether it’s sticking to the sandy beaches, braving the surf or walks up on the Norfolk Coast Path, you’ll find plenty to do around the sea. All that water action isn’t just limited to the coast, though, as Wroxham (half an hour) is your go-to for boating in the Norfolk Broads.

A little trip back in time is a good addition to any itinerary and as well as cycling and fishing on the grand Blickling Estate (10 minutes), you might want to pick up a heritage train trip on the Bure Valley Railway (10 minutes) or sniff around the Muckleburgh Military Collection (30 minutes) to see artefacts of old… or East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden (25 minutes) for all the scents of a sublime garden.

And where else for some nostalgic-type moseying around? Mundesley (15 minutes) is a fine example of a traditional Victorian seaside village. Or, there are beach huts and the promenade at Sheringham (25 minutes) for another classic seaside outing.
