  • Peaceful family site 10 minutes’ drive from Wisbech in East Anglia
  • Sandringham Estate 25 minutes’ drive, Hunstanton beach 45 minutes
  • Covered swimming pool, fishing pond and communal dining hut
If you’re rather fancying the idea of days out on East Anglia beaches or exploring the Royal residence at Sandringham, Strattons Farm Campsite may be the right base for you. Leafy and peaceful, with grass pitches divided by neatly trimmed hedges for extra privacy, this Norfolk site is also 10 minutes’ drive from Wisbech and 20 minutes from King’s Lynn. As well as modern amenities like spotless showers and a washing-up area, there are a couple of major on-site bonuses here too, in the shape of a fishing lake – well-stocked with carp and tench – and a covered swimming pool, which can be booked in slots so you can enjoy a private swim with friends and family. You can have a good natter with aforementioned friends and family (or make new pals among your fellow guests) as you grill up supper at the communal firepit and barbecue area, and there’s also a covered hut for alfresco dining if the weather turns against you. Other family-friendly facilities for the kids include a play area with swings and climbing frames, which sits in a large field with plenty of room for football and other games. Dogs are welcome on site too, with long walks in Fenland landscapes direct from site.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The site is very tidy and well maintained. The staff are very accomodating, (2 bookings) we were on a double pitch, which meant we 'camped' as a family, hardstanding for the caravan and grass for the tent, with plenty of space for games to be played with the little one. The facilities were exceptionally clean and well maintained. The swimming pool was booked per family, which meant we swam, played and had fun as a family. It is again very well maintained.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Electric optional grass tent or touring caravan pitch

Liked: Lovely friendly and peaceful campsite, very clean and well maintained, first thing that stood out was how the grass pitches were looked after Jane was cutting the grass when we arrived, she worked very hard keeping the facilities spotless, individual toilets and showers, always clean and tidy, added touch like washing up liquid and the use of a fridge, lovely scenery, waking up to the view of horses evey morning, nothing was to much trouble, my sisters hookup wasn't quite long enough for where she needed it, but straight away liam let them borrow one for our stay, by far the best campsite we have been to, we will definitely be going back

Local attractions

Make like the monarchy for the day at Sandringham Estate (25 minutes’ drive), where you can tour a museum packed with royal mementos, admire the Jacobean architecture, see the state rooms in Sandringham House and let the kids (and any dogs) have the run of the parkland. When it’s time for a trip to the seaside, Hunstanton (45 minutes) – aka ‘Sunny Hunny’ – has two beaches: one with a pier and fairground for the kids, the second wilder and backed by cliffs and sand dunes. Quiet Heacham South Beach is the spot for dog walks and sunset strolls, while from Snettisham Beach (both 40 minutes), you can spot thousands of migratory birds on wetland lagoons. On urban adventures, have an amble along the Merchants’ Trail, leading between the architectural delights of Georgian-era Wisbech (10 minutes). Alternatively, head for historic King’s Lynn (20 minutes), once a major Hanseatic League trading port, to follow the Maritime Trail past historic quays, former fisheries and warehouses.
