  • Wildlife haven in west Norfolk: walk to the beach in two minutes
  • Basic and peaceful site next to the Norfollk Coast Path
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; shop and pub a few minute's walk away
The splendid beach near Hunstanton Camping and Glamping (dog-friendly Heacham beach, two minutes' walk away) is the only east-coast beach in Britain facing west. This means that guests here are often treated to the sight of a spectacular sunset over the sea – a real rarity for Norfolk. As well being a romantic sunset spot, this location is also a very enticing one for watersports enthusiasts, hikers and families – plus dog owners, who are welcome to bring their pet along for a holiday and a ramble along the Norfolk coast. Hunstanton Camping and Glamping is on the edge of the village of Heacham, in a peaceful wildlife haven surrounded by open fields. It's three miles from here to Snettisham, five to Hunstanton and 10 miles to Thornham, all with dog-friendly beaches and walks aplenty, or you could feel regal for the day with a trip to Sandringham – and its woodland walking paths – within 15 minutes' drive. The site has a good selection of amenities including toilets (ladies', gents' and unisex facilities), four indoor unisex showers and a number of outdoor showers. Grey waste water disposal and chemical disposal are available for touring guests, and plug sockets in washrooms mean you can charge phones or use hairdryers easily enough. Barbecues and campfires are both allowed; a local shop a minute's walk away has most supplies you should need. There's also a pub a few minutes' walk away.

From the manager: Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us following your recent stay, as we truly value every opportunity to hear from our guests and learn about their individual experiences on our grounds. We are absolutely delighted to hear that you enjoyed our lovely, lush green grassed site, which our team works incredibly hard to maintain so that it feels like a welcoming, natural oasis for everyone who visits. Being located so very near to the beach is an absolute privilege that we never take for granted, as it allows our guests to stroll down to the sand in mere moments and fully immerse themselves in the raw, coastal beauty that makes this specific stretch of the Norfolk Coast so completely unforgettable. There is truly nothing more magical than spending a relaxing day on the shore and then settling in to watch the magnificent, fiery sunsets dip gracefully over the open sea, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink right before your eyes. At the same time, we want to thank you for your constructive feedback regarding our shower facilities, and we sincerely apologise that this aspect of your stay did not fully live up to your expectations or match the high quality of our outdoor spaces. We want to assure you that we take your comments very seriously, and we are already looking into ways we can refresh, improve, and better maintain our amenities to ensure they provide a much more comfortable and refreshing experience for all our campers moving forward. We are so incredibly pleased to see that you would still highly recommend us to your friends and that you intend to visit us again in the future. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back for another wonderful holiday by the beach, filled with green grass, warm hospitality, and more of those breathtaking evening views across the water

From the manager: It is an absolute honour and an immense pleasure to welcome you back for your fourth visit to our site, and we simply cannot thank you enough for your incredible loyalty and for taking the time to share such a wonderfully kind review of your experience with us. Hearing that you consider our grounds worth the drive for the absolute peace and quiet they provide is the greatest compliment our team could ever hope to receive. We are so glad that our friendly team has consistently made you feel right at home over the years, and that our spacious, tranquil pitches continue to offer you the perfect, relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There is nothing we love more than serving as a reliable sanctuary where our guests can fully unwind, disconnect, and immerse themselves in the unique and soothing rhythm of our beautiful surroundings. We were also completely captivated by the stunning photograph you captured and added to your review, which perfectly showcases why this particular stretch of the Norfolk Coast is so extraordinarily special to all of us. Because of our unique geographic positioning, we are incredibly blessed to be one of the few places on the eastern coast where you can experience the pure magic of watching the vibrant sunsets melt directly over the sea. Seeing that magnificent glow reflecting across the water in your photo truly encapsulates the serene, magical atmosphere that makes every single trip here so memorable. We are absolutely delighted to hear that you are already planning to visit us again for a fifth time, and we are eagerly looking forward to your next arrival so we can provide you with yet another peaceful getaway filled with spectacular evening views.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (backpacker, no cars, solo)

Liked Plenty of space, friendly, flexible about arrival time. Right next to the coast path.

Disliked Toilet block, showers and dish washing area a bit dirty. There was stuff lying about in the vicinity which made it seem a bit messy.

From the manager: Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us, as we genuinely appreciate hearing directly from our guests about their personal experiences on our grounds. We are absolutely thrilled to learn that you enjoyed the abundant space we offer, and it brings us immense joy to know that our friendly team and flexible arrival policy helped make your start to the holiday smooth and stress-free. Being situated right next to the iconic coast path is something we feel incredibly lucky to offer, as it provides our guests with immediate and unparalleled access to the breathtaking natural beauty of the Norfolk Coast. There is truly nothing quite like spending a long, peaceful afternoon exploring those dramatic shoreline trails, only to return just in time to witness the most spectacular, vibrant sunsets sinking directly over the sea and casting a golden glow across the entire horizon. However, we also want to thank you for your honesty regarding the areas where we fell short of your expectations during your visit. We take your comments about the cleanliness of the toilet block, showers, and dishwashing area very seriously, and we sincerely apologise that these facilities were not up to our usual high standards. Our team is already addressing this with our grounds staff to ensure deep cleaning happens more frequently and that any stray items or clutter lying about the vicinity are cleared away promptly to restore the tidy, welcoming environment our guests deserve. We truly hope to welcome you back in the future so we can provide you with the pristine, flawless experience you should always expect from us, paired with more of those unforgettable evenings watching the sun dip below the waves.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, beautiful scenery, very close to beach and facilities are well kept. Added bonus is an Owl sanctuary on site with beautiful owls to watch. this morning we watched a Kite bird of prey close by, friendly visit to the owls. Simon was brillient talking about his love for owls: facebook owls out about.

Disliked There should be a door bell on the office door if no-one is going to be on reception in the office.

From the manager: Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the spacious pitches and our proximity to the beach. It’s fantastic to hear that the Owl Sanctuary and the local wildlife, like the Kite, made your stay even more special—Simon will be thrilled to hear your kind words about his passion for the owls. We also appreciate your suggestion regarding a doorbell for the office; feedback like this helps us improve our guest experience. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Electric optional grass campervan pitch

Liked Site is very close to beach
Quiet and nice area

Disliked Pitches not mowed and not very spaced apart for privacy.
Stayed 2 nights but felt it was expensive for the basic facilities offered.
Toilet block out dated and basic and no toilet paper or hand towels in men’s section.
Showers ok but not very good to put clothes or get dry easy.
Shower floor filthy when I used it I had to swill it with hot water avd really needed flip flops here which I’d forgotten to take.
Looks like some renovation and planting was started years ago but not finished.
If it was cheaper would have been ok for basic camping. Couldn’t say I could see the glamping part in the communal facilities

Very welcoming.
Perfect for the beach and walking.

Local attractions

Nature fans rejoice, for there's birdwatching galore around here. Make for the RSPB reserve in Snettisham for flocks of birds around the Wash, or for RSPB Titchwell Marsh (20 minutes' drive) to see avocets, marsh harriers and pink-footed geese around its marshlands, reedbeds and freshwater lagoons. Titchwell has a wide sandy beach to investigate too, where scenery seekers can snap far-reaching views across the Wash. Boating and watersports are easily accessed just down the coast at Hunstanton. The town's also home to the rides of Rainbow Park fairground, and the Sea Life Sanctuary next door where you and curious kids can see seals, penguins, otters and other watery species. Other recommended options include Norfolk Lavender, five minutes' drive away at Caley Mill, and the 12th-century ruins of Castle Rising (15 minutes), one of the biggest and best preserved keeps in England.
