General

Fed up with being so far down the pecking order? Colleagues ruffling your feathers? Boss driving you quackers? Duck out of your daily grind for a break at Wild Duck Holiday Park, a Haven site with great facilities, set in a tranquil oasis of woodland near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads.

Wild Duck Holiday Park is a few miles inland, so you can escape the madding crowds of the coast, yet still be within a few minutes’ drive of the beach and other tourist destinations nearby. Amidst the lush greenery on site you’ll find indoor and outdoor pools, sporty pursuits ranging from fencing to crazy golf, and family-friendly food served all day at the Oasis café bar and grill (there’s also a takeaway).

Although the vibe is quiet and relaxed, Wild Duck Holiday Park nevertheless offers a good schedule of evening entertainment, including magic and science shows, performances from Haven’s professional FunStars, plus visiting bands and acts from the club circuit.

Similarly, there’s plenty of opportunity for fledgling campers to spread their wings in the free children’s clubs, which offer a fun range of experiences for all ages, from circus skills to creative cookery sessions designed by kids’ food hero Annabel Karmel. Young Bear Grylls in the making can get stuck into the wildly entertaining Nature Rockz activities run at the park. Learn all sorts from bushcraft skills to building shelters and making campfires, kids could even get the chance to try pond dipping, beachcombing or go on a bug safari. Most activities are free but a small charge may apply to some.

Local attractions

Just three miles down the road from Wild Duck Holiday Park is Pleasurewood Hills, a large theme park with screamingly good roller coasters, white water thrills, family rides and shows.

Nearby Great Yarmouth is a fave family seaside destination, thanks to its beach-based frolics and attractions such as the Pleasure Beach and Sea Life Centre. The town also has its own bijou racecourse, if you fancy a fun day out and a bit of a flutter.

On the outskirts of Great Yarmouth is Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park, where the creature features include big cats, gibbons and macaques, as well as many birds, reptiles and small mammals.

If you like getting steamed up, you can tour the enchanting Bure Valley via its heritage railway (free for kids under 5), which stops off at various pretty villages on its 18-mile run.

Alternatively, take to the water for some messing about in boats on the Norfolk Broads - there are various types of craft for hire, and it’s definitely the best way to explore these winsome, windmill-clad waterways. Plus there are plenty of gorgeous riverside pubs that make for excellent pit stops...

The picture-perfect prom, beach huts and whitewashed pier at Southwold will capture your heart; this chi-chi seaside town also has a great beach and lots of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants.

Further south into Essex, the city of Colchester offers cultural attractions including a smart new contemporary art gallery, a castle and Roman remains, plus a zoo, vineyards and more.

Additional terms

The holiday contract

A contract between you and Haven is made when Pitchup.com tells you your booking is confirmed.

The contract binds you and all the members of your party. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party accept these terms and conditions of booking. Failure to disclose all relevant information or comply with these terms may lead to termination of the contract, and loss of the booking.

When making your booking you must let us know your unit type and the size as we cannot process the booking without this information.

If we change or cancel your booking

As an experienced and responsible operator, our aim is to provide all the services, facilities and entertainment as described in our brochure and on our website. Should it be necessary for us to make any major changes to your booking, or in exceptional circumstances cancel your booking, we will endeavour to advise you, and provide the following options:

1. A replacement holiday comparable or superior to the one booked; or
2. A replacement holiday together with the difference in price between the replacement holiday and the holiday booked; or
3. A full refund.

In addition to the above and provided it does not arise from circumstances beyond our control, we will also pay you compensation for any provable loss. Should a sole use event be booked subsequent to your reservation, in the interest of your holiday enjoyment, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and provide you with an alternative as outlined in this section.

Paying for your holiday

Please note all holidays not paid in full by due dates are at risk of being cancelled. Please note if your holiday is cancelled through non-payment by yourselves then the terms in the conditions of booking do not apply.

Limitation of liability

We accept responsibility for those arrangements of your holiday which are within our control, but we cannot accept liability for any injury, loss or damage suffered by you or any other member of your party, unless one of the following applies:

1. There was wilful default by us, our employees or agents
2. Death or personal injury was caused by the negligence of Haven Holidays, our employees or agents.

For all claims other than death or personal injury which result from the non-performance or improper performance of our contract, we will pay compensation that is reasonable in all circumstances. However, our liability to you is limited to the total cost of the holiday amount paid as per your final holiday invoice from Haven Holidays. Please notify any shortcomings or complaints to the Reception/Duty Manager immediately, so that they can be remedied. Claims may be reduced or rejected if we have not been given the opportunity to put matters right or investigate your concerns.

We do not allow gazebos, campervans, awnings with annexes and sleeping in awnings.

We’ve designed our holidays with families and couples in mind. We do not accept bookings for stag or hen parties, solo travellers, single-sex or mixed parties of 3 or more people or any unaccompanied under 21s via Pitchup.com.

We welcome well trained dogs but we do not allow the following breeds: pit bull terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasilieno plus any other type appearing to be bred for fighting. Where dogs are allowed they must always wear a collar and be kept on a lead under the control of a responsible adult.

The outdoor swimming pool is open from the 22/05 to the 31/08.

An additional car may be added to your booking but must be parked in the nearby car park and not adjacent to or on the pitch.
