If you’ve answered yes to both of these, take a look at Mattishall Golf Club Certificated Location, in the Norfolk countryside about 15 minutes’ drive from Dereham. In fact, you don't even have to be a golfer to have a good break here, as these CAMC member-only pitches are peaceful, generously sized (with space for an awning, gazebo or pup tent) and equipped with both electric and water connections. They’re also well located for exploring lots of the county’s attractions, whether you fancy wandering around Norwich, heading to the coast or taking the kids to places like the Mid-Norfolk Railway and BeWILDerwood. That said, it’s the golf fans that will really win at this place, which has not only a nine-hole course (with 18 tees) but also a driving range, chipping green and indoor facilities including Trackman simulators and a mini golf course; there are also three PGA professionals available for tuition. Your pitch fee entitles you to unlimited mini golf access along with discounts on green fees and buggy hire. There’s an additional fee for other activities. Guests at this site are welcome to use the clubhouse, which has a bar, restaurant and takeaway, and will have access to wifi to help them plan outings. Dogs are welcome, and there’s a dog-walking area on site where they can stretch their paws properly.

Liked Level spacious pitch. Electric hook-up
close by.

Disliked Pitchup website told me there was water hook-up for tourer. This is not true and very disappointing as it was a major factor in choosing the site.
Rinse water for the chemical waste disposal point was also not working and users were forced to enter the drinking water area to gain rince water for cassettes.
Furthermore, there was no wifi available as stated on your website, which caused even more inconvenience.

Liked Ease of getting onto the site was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. We played golf once and had a great time, the facilities for golf and food in the Academy was 10 out of 10

Disliked Not so much a dislike, more a note to the owners.
The toilet facilities were not cleaned all weekend and I had to search for more toilet paper, which was never put into the holder.
Everywhere else I’ve been these facilities are cleaned/ checked daily. Also WiFi and signal for TV was poor this weekend.

Liked Quiet location. Only 5 vans allowed plus 5 motor homes

Disliked After the golf club shut there was no one around if you had any problems such as the noisy travellers that left rubbish everywhere and dirty nappies at the chem waste point

Liked Quietness, shower block dispite previous reviews. These are open 24 hrs and for sole use of the caravan pitches. They were being painted whilst we were there so they have acted on feedback. And there’s a lovely cool patio around the back with benches. ( this building was the golf clubhouse) . The team are friendly, leave you to it (as are the golfers). Great price. Little gem. Better than expectations 🥰

Disliked For us a little too far out from the coast. But we booked last minute on Thursday evening for arrival Friday so although we didn’t ‘choose’ it (it was down to availability and needs)was really nice.

Liked Peaceful site with 5 pitches. The bar at the Golf Club was very nice.

Disliked Only 2 showers and 1 toilet but both clean. Need a new floor squeegee - no viable sponge on it. No loo rolls.

Dereham (15 minutes’ drive) is a good place to start – here you can visit the windmill and board the heritage trains of the Mid-Norfolk Railway. The area around the town also has other family-friendly attractions like The Bug Parc, Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse and the dinosaurs, animals and adventure playground of ROARR! (all 20 minutes’ drive from the site). For some outdoor activities that aren’t golf, go riding with Kimblewick Equestrian Centre (10 minutes), take bikes or walking boots to Thetford Forest (half an hour) or take the kids to follow the intriguing trails at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (40 minutes). Norwich (half an hour) is a nice place for a stroll, and you can also hire canoes or join cruises here for trips into the Broads National Park. Norfolk is well known for its lovely coastline too, so plan a day of crabbing in Cromer, some time on the sands of Mundesley or a trip to the model village and Sea Life aquarium (plus some beach time) in Great Yarmouth – they’re all just under an hour away.
