Ever been to a site which is so good you just want to keep it under wraps? Wend your stealthy way to exceedingly popular The Secret Garden Touring Park in Cambridgeshire’s Fenlands, with accommodation in a green countryside setting within a two-acre garden. You'll spy all sorts of little touches that keep guests coming back: much like the local and migrant wildlife regularly flutters to the flowers and shrubs of the garden, all meticulously developed over years by owners Neil and Lesley to draw in nearby birds, butterflies and beasts like jays, woodpeckers, stoats and hares. The site also has a couple of Gloucester Old Spot pigs. Other little touches at The Secret Garden include an on-site distillery, a communal firepit area, a shop with locally made bacon and sausages, and a ‘hobbit hill’ for the kids to hide out in. All guests have access to two modern shower and toilet blocks, and the kitchen with laundry facilities. Entertainment is available on weekends.

Liked This is a lovely site, pitches are private and the onsite bar and restaurant is excellent, the food was really good and reasonably priced. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

Disliked The shower block is very poor and needs updating, there was three unisex showers and one unisex toilet. I personally prefer single sex shower blocks.It wasn't busy while we were there but think it could be a problem peak season.

Liked Loved the privacy of the pitch with the mature hedging. Liked that you could have a camp fire with fire pit supplied at each pitch, although we did not use it on this occasion.
Facilities were modern and clean.
Security barrier that was registration id.
Bar and shop on site - loved their own cider offerings - delicious
Entertainment, tribute band (extra cost)

Disliked Wifi was very poor on our pitch which we frustrating.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Although we now have high capacity fibre available in the bar -  we have yet to roll it out across the park to each pitch -  we plan for this network extension to come in to operation from early 2027.

Your park is now something for us to look forward to next spring

Liked We were delighted with your park especially the individual pitches. We were impressed and we will be back....often.

Disliked The water taps need a spout screwed onto each tap and a short length of hose pipe attached, just enough to get the water into our water carriers without wasting water.

In the restaurant they should source sausages with thin skins, the ones we had did have tough skins. ( you did ask " what improvement"!)

Liked Restaurant friendly staff. Eagles gif was great. Site was lovely plenty of room

Disliked Toilet were lovely a big but to get into it I had to get out of my chair as their was a edge to get in, and some light to come on as you walk to the stage back

Liked We had a private pitch which was nice and spacious, water and electric on the pitch , toilets nice and clean, showers nice and roomy, all staff happy and helpful, fantastic on site pub but away from pitches so not to get disturbed, absolutely beautiful place.

Liked Great place to stay! The shower and toilet facilities were excellent, with power and water conveniently located right next to the tent. The shop is well stocked with lovely local produce, including some fantastic products from the local distillery. Highly recommended!

If travelling from the direction of Wisbech St Mary/Barton Road it is advised to go past the entrance of Mile Tree Lane and make a U-turn at the next junction (Panswell Lane on the next corner), in order to avoid this dangerous turning.

Wisbech, Cambridgeshire’s biggest town, is two and a half miles away and has a good selection of museums, shops and Georgian architecture to view (Dickens fans might recognise some of the town’s buildings from the Beeb’s adaptation of David Copperfield from 1999). Octavia Hill's birthplace house and museum, celebrating the many good deeds of this Wisbech woman, is also in the town, or you could reach heady heights at the Fenland and North Norfolk Aviation Museum to see aircraft and displays from across the ages. The National Trust’s Peckover House in Wisbech has great gardens (and croquet on the lawn), as does local brewery Elwood’s, with four acres of greenery as well as a maze to get lost in. Both the RSPB reserve at Ouse Washes in Manea and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Welney in Norfolk are within 15–20 miles if your whistle has been whetted by the wildlife watching on site at The Secret Garden; take a trip around the lakes of the Fens or east to the Norfolk Broads for more species spotting from boat and shore. Within driving distance for day trips you can also reach Cambridge and Ely to the south, Norwich to the east and the scenic seaside towns of Hunstanton, Wells-next-the-Sea and Sandringham to the north, or drive a little further to reach Skegness and Great Yarmouth.
