  • Family-friendly site in a convenient location on the edge of Cambridge
  • Easy access from the M11; 20 minutes to the city centre by bus or bike
  • Member price shown; non-members select £10/night extra
Countryside and city are both at your beck and call when you stay at Cambridge Camping and Caravanning Club Site – this family-friendly spot is in a peaceful and green location on the edge of the city, about 15-20 minutes from the centre by bus or bike. As well as giving you access to one of England’s most historic and attractive cities, pitching up here puts you within easy reach of some lovely rural wanders. The Fenland landscapes are famously fairly flat, so they’re suitable for family walks and bike rides through woodland and meadows with only gentle hills to tackle from time to time. That combo of urban and rural may be enticing enough, but there’s more – because this site also benefits from convenient road access, with the M11 only a few minutes’ drive away and the A14 a few minutes further on. That means fairly stress-free journeys and plenty of options for day trips to the likes of Ely, Newmarket and the IWM Duxford. This site is managed by the Camping and Caravanning Club, with both members and non-members welcome; there’s a reduced rate for members though, so make sure you select the correct membership status on your booking. Kids and dogs are very welcome here, with a play area for the youngsters and a dedicated dog walk where canine pals can stretch their legs. Other facilities include a site shop, a wifi service, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with a family shower room and accessible facilities.

What customers say

This well-organised, exceptionally clean campsite offers a peaceful stay with friendly and helpful staff. Pitches are spacious, and facilities, including toilets and showers, are consistently praised for cleanliness. Its location provides easy bus access to Cambridge. Some guests noted a lack of shade and proximity to the motorway. A £10 surcharge for non-members was highlighted, as was the early closure of shower facilities for cleaning.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked A lovely site with a warm and friendly greeting, choice of pitches, and exceptionally clean facilities. A £3 bus ride into Cambridge from just across the road made everything so easy. Two very peaceful nights, wish I could have stayed longer.

Disliked Nothing at all.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The welcome from Amanda was very friendly and helpful from the check-in at reception was a great start. I had a great choice of location, and opted for the bunny field. The site was extremely well organised and clean. Location was great, easy access to the city via taxi. Everything was perfect, I have marked it in Google maps for the future. Great job everyone who works there.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Clean, spacious site. Large pitches. Hot showers. Friendly staff. Free WiFi.

Disliked Not closing showers and toilets so early to clean. If you want a lay in, late breaky and shower, tough.
Noise from the M11 and trains
Additional £10 per day for non member - bit steep. Only had tent electric pitch.

From the manager: Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay!

Cleaning times are noted on the facilities and take place between the hours of 10:30 and 12:00pm across our Club Sites in order for the staff to complete cleaning before departures at 12:00 and arrivals from 1:00pm. While the main facilities are closed, the accessible facilities will remain open for toilet use only.

We appreciate your feedback.

Local attractions

You’ll certainly want to spend at least a day in Cambridge (20 minutes away by bus or bike) – or quite possibly several days, given the long list of things to do. Popping in to the world-famous colleges is a must, as is trying your hand at punting along The Backs. The Fitzwilliam Museum, Kettle’s Yard and university botanic garden are also worth exploring, and the city has lots of great places to shop and eat too. Just a little way outside the city, IWM Duxford (10 minutes’ drive) makes a great family day out, with a large outdoor play area and lots of interactive exhibits as well as the amazing plane displays to explore. Linton Zoo Conservation Park (20 minutes) is another place that’s popular with youngsters. For other days out, head to the cathedral city of Ely (35 minutes) or horse-mad Newmarket (25 minutes) to visit the racecourse and National Horseracing Museum. Audley End House and Gardens (20 minutes) is a nice place for a wander, or you may prefer the rural trails of National Trust - Wicken Fen Nature Reserve (35 minutes).
