  • Adults-only woodland pitches in Worcestershire
  • A 15-minute drive to Tewkesbury and 25 minutes to the Malvern Hills
  • Outdoor kitchen and barbecue; stone-carving art class available
A destination with no set pitches – just find a spot with valley views or a woodland corner that suits you and claim it – Rockridge in Worcestershire is open to adult guests and their dogs. This spot really does have a back-to-basics vibe to it, so you can bed down in total peace and feel the tug of nature calling you. Having said that, there is a toilet and a shower with hot water, as well as an outdoor cooking area with hot and cold water where you can prepare meals to eat alfresco or wash up your dishes. An outdoor barbecue facility is also on-hand. The farmland is criss-crossed with footpaths that give wonderful views of hilly countryside, so you and your canine chums can have a potter around on site, but don’t forget that all the glorious walking trails in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes’ drive) are yours for the taking too. The owner of the site also offers a stone-carving art class which can be booked when you arrive.

This woodland campsite offers a true wild camping experience with the comfort of clean toilets and hot showers. Reviewers praised the freedom to choose pitches, the natural beauty of the surroundings, and the abundant wildlife. Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked The welcome from Gary and his partner (sorry I didn’t cath your name) was fabulous.

The setting is beautiful, it’s a few acres of gentle hill with natural clearings big enough to pitch a tent throughout the site and the lower levels are perfect for vans.

The amenities are basic, but perfectly formed, you can grab a shower, go to the loo, and get fresh water which is just what we wanted for our wild camping experience.

Venturing out and about, the land is surrounded by interesting walks, we chose to walk up to the church aprox 1mile walk, it was perfectly tranquil, and just what you want from an off grid experience.

Disliked None - I’ve marked down wifi on my score, this is not a negative, there is no access to wifi, and nor should there be! Enjoy nature my friends :-)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the welcome from Gary (and Marlene 😊). It’s great to know that the peaceful setting, natural pitches, and simple amenities provided just the right balance for your off-grid experience.

We’re especially pleased that you made the most of the local walks—visiting the church is a lovely way to take in the tranquility of the area. And thank you for highlighting the absence of Wi-Fi in such a positive way; we couldn’t agree more that it’s the perfect chance to switch off and enjoy nature.

We hope to welcome you back again

A very relaxing and secluded couple of days.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Toilets and bench area was nice.
Free wood

Disliked Can't park next to pitch as advertised.
Nobody at reception which is fine but when they came back asked us to move even though it was pitch anywhere.
Cat is nice but trys to steal food and when you say no it launched at my arm and bit me.
Looks like a building site near the house and could do with hiding away as its not great to look at.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not fully meet expectations. For safety and comfort reasons, not all Car can parked directly on the pitches, which is why guests are asked to use the designated parking areas. We appreciate your understanding on this.

Regarding the reception, we do sometimes step away briefly, but our team is always available to help as soon as possible. We’re also very sorry about your experience with the cat – it is usually friendly with guests, and we will take steps to ensure it does not disturb anyone.

Finally, we are currently carrying out some improvement works to enhance the site, and we understand this may not be the best view. These upgrades will help us provide an even better stay for future visitors.

We truly value your comments and will use them to improve our guest experience.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This site is a must for those that love nature as you will be smack in the middle of it. This camp site is beautiful. A place to recharge the mind and the body. A place
to sleep under the stars and connect to mother nature.. something that needs to be protected.
The shower was warm and large.. so was the toilet which was well stocked with loo roll and both are very clean.it was great to be allowed to have an open fire which was quite popular...all that was asked was common sense prevailed. There is a well stocked washing up area .
We were a party of four and none of us will hesitate to return..infact we do plan another weekend very soon .
This site is an absolute gem
Gary and Marlene are very friendly and welcoming....A massive thank you to you both from Kim, Karl, Tina and Gary

Local attractions

If you’d like a dose of culture on your camping break, Tewkesbury Abbey (15 minutes’ drive) is a smashing place to start. It played a decisive battle in the 15th-century Wars of the Roses and nowadays you can climb the tower for battlefield views, and admire its sparkling stained-glass windows. Afterwards, treat yourself to a crafty pint in one of the town’s half-timbered hostelries. Mix history up with outdoor strolls around Capability Brown-designed follies and flower beds at the Walled Gardens at Croome Court (15 minutes), while the National Trust-owned The Firs (half an hour) is the birthplace of composer Sir Edward Elgar, and has gardens to wander and displays of original manuscripts including ‘Land of Hope and Glory’. Fancy a day out in town? Cheltenham (half an hour) offers theatres, stylish shops and a whole host of spas, while the cathedral city of Gloucester has bar-and-shop-lined Victorian quays and docks to explore. And if you prefer to be country based, oh-so-pretty Broadway (both 35 minutes), with its follies, museums and rural walks, is the springboard to explorations of mellow-stone Cotswold villages.
