General

  • Adults-only site surrounded by Worcestershire countryside
  • Droitwich Spa 20 minutes’ drive; Worcester 25 minutes
  • Well-behaved dogs welcome; just over a mile from the nearest pub

Located halfway between Worcester and Redditch (25 minutes’ drive to either), Church Meadow Campsite is a small, peaceful site surrounded by arable fields and splendid Worcestershire countryside.

‘Peaceful’ is very much the operative word here – not only because this rural spot is blissfully quiet, with just a soundtrack of wildlife and the occasional neigh from the horses that live nearby, but also because Church Meadow caters exclusively to adults. (Though well-behaved dogs are also welcome.) Well-maintained facilities on site include toilets and showers.

The site is in the sleepy village of Dormston, which is home to a pretty, historic church. A carp fishing lake and a traditional pub serving food (including a full English breakfast) are both just over a mile away (a five-minute drive or a 25-minute walk), while other amenities, including spots to pick up groceries, are on hand in nearby Inkberrow (five minutes).

This part of the country isn’t short on stunning scenery, whether you fancy jaunts to National Trust properties like Hanbury Hall (15 minutes), the historic town of Droitwich Spa (20 minutes) or heritage villages like Broadway (30 minutes), at the northern end of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Church Meadow is also easy to reach, being just a few miles from the M5.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.

    Disliked:

The camp site. On arrival the main gate was locked so we rang the contact number to be told that the site was closed between October and March! Funny how did we manage to make a booking then? After checking the bookings the owner gave us the code to the lock and we went through the gate. The place looked destitute. There was not a sole around and the few caravans that were there looked almost abandoned. The ‘hard standing/gravel pitches’ were mere pea shingle patches thrown onto boggy muddy grass. The pitches didn’t appear wide enough for the caravan let alone anywhere to safely park the car. We always take our dog with us and it would have been a nightmare taking him for his exercise in the bog pit and to keep him clean. There were 6 pitches then a fenced off area with more pitches, even though I use the term pitches very loosely. I looked at my husband, he looked at me and almost simultaneously said ‘no, not staying here’. The ground was so sodden we were concerned that we would sink into it and not be able to get out. We’d paid £50 for this privilege and decided it really wasn’t worth it. We’ve stayed in much much better camp sites for less money. The random large animal figures dotted around were hideous and the whole site needs a good revamp. How they are allowed to charge people to risk their caravans and cars safely there is questionable. They’re also a certified camping and caravan site (or so their board says) but I’m confused as to how they would achieve this accolade. I’m sure during the summer months it might be an ‘ok’ site but to advertise hard standing/gravel pitches is a joke. We didn’t even get out the car, mainly because the ground was so muddy, we quickly booked onto another site and left.

We would definitely book it again.
    Lovely, rural, quiet site.
Level pitches with ample spacing. Water, hook up, bins, waste etc all easily accessible.
Showers worked fine and fit for purpose but could do with a bit of tlc.

    Disliked:

The toilet/shower facilities really do need an upgrade.
    Need a good clean.
No natural light and the decor is just random!
Also..it didn't bother us as we like to be left alone, but we didn't see anyone from the site throughout our whole week stay.
