Little Fish Meadow: Around the site

General

  • Spacious, peaceful site by the river in Upton Upon Severn
  • A 10-minute drive from Tewkesbury and the Malvern Hills
  • Level, easy-access pitches 10 minutes' walk from the town centre

Settling in by the River Severn, at a spacious and straightforward site with some fine meadow views – sound splendid? If that’s a nod of agreement, wend your way to Worcestershire for a stay at Little Fish Meadow, just next to the river in the town of Upton Upon Severn.

Pitches at this four-acre site are pleasingly flat and level, and easy to access from the main road into the town. Once you’re all settled in there’s little need to manoeuvre your way out again, for much of what you’ll need is within strolling distance: pubs, restaurants, a chippy and various food shops are all within a 10-minute wander over the bridge into the town centre.

Boat hire and riverside rambles on the Severn Way are even closer, and there are plenty of places to get out for a good bike ride nearby too. Looking a little further afield for your jollies, you can hit Tewkesbury or the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty with a drive of 10 minutes or so, or get up to Worcester in around 20 minutes for museums, cathedral visits and an afternoon at the cricket.

This riverside site is all set up to be a place for peaceful times, and facilities have been kept accordingly low key: guests have access to essentials like water, toilet facilities and electrical hookups, and are welcome to light up a barbecue for sorting outdoor dinners. Dogs are welcome to join you on a stay here too (that’ll set a few tails wagging…)

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

A beautiful retreat for a few days, clean toilet, flat field.14/09/2021

This was a beautiful spot, the harbour opposite was really picturesque and the town so close once you were there no need for any other transport. The town had loads of very quaint shops not the everyday big chains but all hand made, unique items. A few antique shops and enough pubs and charity shops to browse around and rest all along the river bank too. The Mohito Bar pizza was perfect, very friendly atmosphere and the food was amazing. Definitely returning to both town and restaurant and camp site. Basic toilet facilities but we’re clean and well equipped.

    Disliked:

No showers but that is out of their hands at this time.

We've stayed here previously with children but fancied a night away. Lovely little campsite. Very basic but well cared for. Just a short walk from Upton and the lovely pubs on the river.

    Disliked:

Only downside it is very close to a main road.

The proximity to the marina and town. There are some great pubs and restaurants in the town all of which are worth a visit.
Anny was ok and did try and address problems raised by a number of people on the site.

    Disliked:

I don't know where to start with this because there were so many issues so I am going to do it them in number order.
Before I start I would just like to say this is my first review and I don't make a habit of moaning but I feel that I must point out the problems that my party and others on the site experienced on this weekend which was the 13th and 14th of August 2021.
1/ No one on site to welcome or to show us to our pitch.
2/ we had to find a place with electric socket. People already there had parked up right next to the sockets and my son had difficulty putting the caravan in a place that his lead would reach.
3/ The road next to the campsite was extremely busy with large lorries thundering past all night long on the Fri night and most of Saturday night.
4/ Roudy large group who had no thought for anyone else, loud music until almost 2am on Friday and around 1am on Saturday.
5/ Toilets were filthy (due to the large group)
6/ Men's toilets were blocked for the duration of the stay, I had to go into the town pub. Anny did try but was fighting a losing battle.
7/ feeling of being unsafe due to this group.

Flat site, access by foot to Upton town centre and the amazing dog walks beyond the main site, with views of Malvern hills.

A vast field beyond the initial camp field for non electric pitches was amazing, but not accessible. Managers of this site could create something really special if they were to open this up.

Annie, comes to see you in morning and evening.

    Disliked:

A very noisy site: road noise from the elevated road and music played up till 2.30am.
Poor facilities. Rudimentary at best, with no showers, two toilets and one sink in each side. No where to wash dishes.

Directions to site takes you to another campsite. Unfortunately no meet and greet.

The toilets were the cleanest I’ve ever seen on a campsite. The site owners were lovely and helpful.
The site was also very close to Upton village which was lovely to go into during the day.

    Disliked:

Off lead dogs running up to our camp at 10pm. We also had a dog with us, so that startled him as he was fast asleep and then there was a bit of a barking match. I understand that this isn’t the site owners fault, but maybe just a reminder to dog owners that if their dog doesn’t have good recall they should be on a lead.

Local attractions

Upton Upon Severn’s a fab little town – as well as supping in its pubs and browsing in its independent shops, you’ll want to check out the pretty half-timbered buildings and the medieval church affectionately known as the ‘Pepperpot’. Time visits well and you can get stuck into events at the town’s various music festivals.

It’s also a handy hub for getting out to see a bit more of that gorgeous Worcestershire countryside: hire boats just across the road to glide along the Severn or hit the Severn Way, a few minutes’ walk away, to ramble or ride bikes by the water’s edge.

Go far enough along the river and you’ll eventually hit Tewkesbury (to the south) or Worcester (to the north). If your legs won’t propel you quite so far, drive to the former in 10 minutes or the latter in 20 minutes – both have excellent historic buildings to visit and pretty streets to wander in.

Speaking of wanders, it’s worth planning more ambles up in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 10 minutes’ drive away – there’s plenty of choice both for strollers and those seeking something more challenging.
