  • Glampsite in an ancient plum orchard near Pershore in Worcestershire
  • Stratford-on-Avon, Worcester and Sudeley Castle half an hour’s drive
  • Kitchen corners and private showers; pubs within 10 minutes’ drive
Worcestershire here you come… how about luxury accommodation on a Vale of Evesham fruit farm, handily based near the market town of Pershore for exploring the gorgeous Cotswolds? Bring family and friends (but no dogs, sorry) to Plum Tree Glamping for a peaceful stay in nattily kitted-out glamping units, each named after plums grown in the orchard. Bedding is provided in all accommodation options, and each has private showers plus a kitchen corner equipped with all the gear you need for camping catering – from kettles for that all-important morning brew to fridges to keep your stuff fresh. Spark up the barbecue for alfresco suppers around the campfire (firewood is provided), or head to local pubs for supper and a pint; there are several options within 10 minutes’ drive, while an award-winning National Trust-owned inn at Bretforton (15 minutes’ drive) is a little further afield but well worth a visit for its 15th-century interior and delicious food. The glampsite is surrounded by quiet countryside for cyclists and ramblers, and there’s lots to see in lovely spots like Worcester and Cheltenham.

Local attractions

If you’re after outdoorsy fun, you’re in the right place. Get into an active frame of mind with Saturday park runs in Evesham (15 minutes’ drive), or swim a few lengths at Evesham Leisure Centre (a handy option for rainy days). There’s fishing and an 18-hole golf course within 10 minutes’ drive, and of course you have all the hiking and cycling paths of the Cotswolds to choose from. Georgian Pershore (15 minutes) offers foodie shops and an ancient abbey, while there are historic docks at Gloucester (50 minutes) to explore, or smart boutiques and racing at Regency-era Cheltenham (40 minutes). Worcester has a cathedral with lovely stained glass and a medieval library, and you can wander cobbled streets amid half-timbered buildings in riverside Stratford-on-Avon (both half an hour), home of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Big-hitting Cotswolds attractions include the formal gardens and costume exhibitions at Sudeley Castle and Gardens (half an hour), and chances are the whole family will enjoy seeing rare horse breeds or bottle-feeding lambs (in season) at Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park (35 minutes).
