Three Counties Showground Campsite: Campervans welcome

General

  • Large and well-located site in the foothills of the Malvern Hills
  • Five minutes' drive from Great Malvern and 25 minutes from Worcester
  • A mile and a half from a golf club and brewery

Roll up, roll up – come and admire this splendid site set against a backdrop of the Malvern Hills…

As its name suggests, Three Counties Showground Campsite stretches over three counties: Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. It's a couple of minutes' drive from the A449, making it as simple as can be to get out to the footpaths and bridleways that link up the many scenic parts of the Malvern Hills.

What's happening on site will depend largely on when you come – the showground's a popular venue for food festivals, county fairs, flower shows and the like, so check to see if there's anything that takes your fancy while booking in. (Please note your pitch booking does not give you access to any events – these need to be booked separately at the showground's own website).

This family-friendly spot has toilets (including accessible ones) and free wifi so you can stay in touch while away on hol, and four-legged companions can join you on stays here.

Barbecues are allowed (off the ground, please, so it can stay in show-worthy shape). There are lots of other food options in the local area, like the supermarkets and pubs in Great Malvern (five minutes’ drive) or the food stalls that spring up when a show’s in town.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Group bookings of 5 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Minimum spacing of 2 metres between pitches.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Lovely flat pitches, plenty of water stands too. Toilets and showers are a bit dated but kept very clean . Just beware with the shower as I couldn't get a medium temperature it was either cold or scalding but that may have been just the one I was in. George the warden was very helpful and can supply plenty of takeaway menus. Dog friendly too.

Friendly and helpful warden, well maintained camping area. Plenty of space off site to walk dogs

    Disliked:

Having to pay £7.50 per extra dog over 2, when we visit this site regularly for dog shows, using show for booking pitch, we stay at no extra charges for dogs . Can only imagine that pitchup are pocketing these excess payments. Will not be booking through this method again, where possible will be contacting sites direct. We love the site and there are various shows etc to attend throughout the year on the show ground.

Spacious, clean campsite. Lots of toilets and shower cubicles all clean and pretty much empty anytime myself and partner visited. Perfect location for walking the Malvern hills and popping into Malvern.

    Disliked:

Sadly our trip was impacted by some loud camp members. A group of drunk, rude men was staying at the campsite and despite it being off-season we was given a plot right next to them and not able to choose a space further away. They was playing music loudly from speakers, parting and drinking to excess next to us while also shouting at members staying onsite even shouting “do you want to fight me?” to my partner when he was walking back from the shower cubicle.

Lovely views and location. Good facilitates and clean etc

    Disliked:

The chap who appeared to be in charge was quite annoying. He wasn’t very polite when we arrived and didn’t show us where the facilities were etc - then, when we were pitching our tent, he pulled up in his wagon to spectate - making ‘funny’ comments such as ‘I’ve got coathangers thicker than those pegs’. In the end we ignored him and he left us alone.

View of the Malvern hills. The size of pitch. The facilities were what we wanted (shower and toilets). The warden was very friendly and helpful. You could get a take away delivered to the site. Our school holidays were a week earlier than other areas of the country, so we were the only ones on site. We would happily stay here again.

    Disliked:

The windy weather. However, this is what you get for camping in April.

Local attractions

Small fry and grownups looking to splash around are five minutes' drive from a local leisure centre, where there's a wave machine, a full-size 25-metre pool and a waterslide. Other options on your doorstep include the well-regarded 18-hole Worcestershire Golf Club (five minutes' drive) and the Lakehouse Brewery, where you can pick up a box of local ales, book yourself onto a tour or stay for the whole day and brew your own batch.

The marvels of the Malvern Hills – the highest bits of which are visible across the site – are also close at hand, with hikes up the Worcestershire Beacon (five minutes' drive then a half-hour walk) and the six-mile lap of the Eastnor Estate (15 minutes) being two popular picks.

The architecturally inclined may well wish to make a pilgrimage to gorgeous Tewkesbury Abbey (20 minutes) or Worcester Cathedral (25 minutes) while they're here, or to the Brockhampton Estate (half an hour) for strolls around superb secular structures and 700 acres of woodland.
