  • Peaceful park with easy access to Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Within the race course for easy access to races and events
  • Several pubs within a mile and a half
Located on the western fringes of Stratford-upon-Avon, Stratford Racecourse Touring Park is a place with spacious and level pitches that are equally well placed for easy race day access or some time wandering around Warwickshire. Close to the banks of the Avon and set in Shakespearean countryside, Stratford Racecourse Touring Park is only 20 minutes' gentle walk from the thespian tours and treats of central Stratford-upon-Avon. And, with a name like Stratford Racecourse Touring Park, it's a sure bet you'll be near the geegees too. In fact, equine aficionados, you'll be pitched in the racecourse itself, with plenty of surrounding space in the centre for small racers to let off steam – and you'll get free race-meeting tickets tacked onto your pitch price if you book for two days, one of which is a race day. (Plenty of other events accumulate at the racecourse too year-round such as a motorhome show and a beer and cider festival: you may well wish to pitch up for a lengthy sojourn.) Amenities include a modern loo and shower block, a launderette, Calor gas sales, washing-up facilities and water points; for feed, trot to one of the several on-form pubs within a mile and a half.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Great location, pleasant walk to Stratford town centre, helpful friendly staff, activities in the evenings at the bar, plenty of space between camp units

Disliked Not many shower units may be a problem at peak times and would be nice if they were upgraded as visually they do not look appealing but that is only a minor gripe

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Location to town

Disliked Paid for a electric pitch which was hit and miss whether it worked and ended up not working at all on last day and night
Meant to be quiet after 9 but could still hear teenagers running around screaming

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed our location and its proximity to the town.

We are sorry you experienced difficulties with the electric hook-up. Following your comments, we personally tested the hook-up point with an electrical testing device and can confirm that the supply is working correctly and the box has no fault. Our warden also tested the connection with your cable when you first arrived and was able to get it working.

As the site’s electrical supply is working correctly, we believe the problem may have been with the cable or the connection. We were around the site throughout your stay, so had we been made aware that you were continuing to experience problems, we would have been very happy to come and investigate this for you at the time.

We were also surprised to see a score of 2 for customer service, as our warden did come over and assist you personally when you first had difficulty connecting, and was able to get your electricity working. We always try to help our guests when they have a problem, and would have been happy to assist again had we known you were still experiencing difficulties.

With regard to the noise, our quiet time starts at 9pm and we do ask all guests to respect this. We’re sorry that other guests disturbed you during your stay. Had we been made aware at the time, we would have been happy to address it.

Thank you for your feedback.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The pitches are flat (yay!) and everyone is nicely spaced out. We had enough room for our caravan, awning and car and then a nice gap either side of us. The toilets and showers were decent and very clean.

The woman on reception was absolutely lovely. It was our first trip in our caravan (we're former motorhomers) and she stayed with us while we unhitched to check we were okay.

We stayed in order to be close to Stratford, and the site is very reasonably priced for how close to the centre it is.

Disliked Toilets shut at 11am for an hour with no back-up loos.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the open spaces, views and your stay with us, and it’s great to hear that you’ll be coming back.

We’re very sorry about the weather — unfortunately, despite our best efforts, that one is slightly outside our control! 😂 We’ll put in a special request for sunshine for your next visit. 🌞

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Local attractions

It's less than a mile from Stratford Racecourse Touring Park to the cottage of one fairly famous Miss Hathaway, and a 20-minute meander on a direct path along the greenway and the Avon bank to reach the shops, pubs, restaurants and Shakespearean sights of Stratford. Stratford-upon-Avon is of course the place for Shakespearean scholars the world over. Spend a couple of days around the main Shakespeare attractions in town – Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Shakespeare's Grave, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Hall's Croft, Mary Arden's Farm, Nash's House and New Place – and then catch a show at either/both of the RSC's theatres, the Royal Shakespeare and the Swan. The charity Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust keeps books, manuscripts and other interesting Shakespeare items in its Shakespeare and local collections. Also in Stratford, try to take a flutter at Butterfly World, Europe’s biggest butterfly collection, and check out nightly ghost tours at independent museum Tudor World. Those who fancy undramatic countryside walks can tackle part of the 146-mile Shakespeare's Way from Stratford to London's Globe Theatre via Oxford, the Cotswolds, Blenheim Park, the Grand Union Canal Walk and the Thames Path. More flutters can be had at the year-round meets of Warwick Racecourse less than ten miles from Stratford, and take time too to see the topping castles in the region: Warwick Castle, filled with family fun and events all year round, and Kenilworth Castle, described by an eminent historian as 'the finest surviving example of a semi-royal palace of the later middle ages'. More history? Try National Trust houses like Charlecote Park, the award-winning blacksmith’s workshop Chedham’s Yard, or getting envious among the vintage cars and motorbikes of Gaydon's Heritage Motor Centre. More horses? Get to Redwings Horse Sanctuary at Oxhill 10 miles south of Stratford to see over 90 horsey inhabitants on a free walk and talk tour.
