  • Peaceful family-run park two miles from Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Shop, off-licence, free hot showers and spotless facilities
  • Regular bus service from right outside the site
Settle yourselves down here, Shakespeare fans: Dodwell Park is just two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and all the bardly attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s peace, there’s quiet, there’s a countryside setting – and if all that still isn’t enough for a final attempt to get the kids (and dog) reading sonnets, you can culture-ise them by taking them along to nearby Warwick Castle for all sorts of horrible history. Sorted. Dodwell Park is a small family-run site where the amenities are kept to spotless standards, with free hot showers, dishwashing facilities and hairdryers to keep the barnet looking tiptop. A shop and off-licence is on site, and armfuls of leaflets are at the information stand with info on Stratford-upon-Avon and other local tourist attractions. Nearby are Cotswold villages with Shakespearely thatched inns, walks and cruises along the River Avon and the hills of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Boating, fishing and old buildings are at Luddington village about three miles from Dodwell Park. Leaving the car behind to avoid hiking up car parking costs in Stratford? A regular bus service stops right outside the site.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Nice, large, hard-standing pitches, pretty flat. Small shop on site (didn't use but looked handy as nothing in walking distance for supplies). Very handy for Stratford with bus stop right outside the site, only 10 min into centre.

Disliked We were out of season so not an issue but not a lot of showers/ loos, might be an issue at busier times. Shower was a bit of a spluttery affair!

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Good location for Stratford. Wardens very good, helpful and friendly. Site well kept & tidy. Facilities spotless and plenty of hot water. Very little road noise.

Disliked Facilities however clean, were dated and in need of repairs/ revamp. Pitches might be a bit tight if using an awning and parking your car as well.

Liked Great little campsite near to Stratford Upon Avon . Very friendly warden and his wife in the office . Lovely hot showers . Quiet at night . Bus stop literally outside campsite runs into Stratford and we got a taxi back . Good stop off for us on way to the NEC which is about 30 mins away .

Disliked Nothing . Basic campsite but we like that , so nothing to dislike for us .

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Proximity to Stratford and friendly warden.

Disliked Parking was a problem due to grass areas being waterlogged and not enough parking in the car park. Location means a lot of single night vw campers etc visit, which isn’t normally a problem but the pitches are pretty close together and all you hear is sliding doors being shut at all hours. Not the fault of the park though.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Located perfectly for Stratford-upon-Avon, 8 minutes on the bus (£3 per person) or an Uber taxi (£10).

Disliked Building work being done to the grounds feb 2026, and it's like a building site—very muddy and uneven, so very messy. Also, the pitches are very tight with not many turning points for 7.5m motorhomes. You will end up driving over the grass if it's a wet day, leading to a lot of slipping. Additionally, the toilet facility block for men and ladies is very dirty and not well-maintained, with loose electrical cables hanging across the walls in the men's toilets. The ladies' toilets had evidence of insects. It looks like there is no good cleaning process in place.

Local attractions

To Stratford-upon-Avon first: see what the big deal is by catching a Royal Shakespeare Company play before a trip around town to the Shakespeare attractions; buy a Shakespeare Five House Pass to see Hall's Croft, Mary Arden's Farm, Nash's House and New Place and Shakespeare's Grave alongside Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. Many companies offer cruises along the Avon, but to save pennies take a trip on the old chain ferry for 20p, or stay on land and take the mile and a quarter route along the Avon for views of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s burial place Holy Trinity Church and the Memorial Theatre Gardens. Scores of other walks can be had in the Cotswolds, the biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, with miles’ worth of footpath and bridleways broken up by small villages and market towns. The Cotswold Way runs 102 miles south from Chipping Campden to Bath and passes many historical houses and churches. After Warwick Castle, families can have a day out at the Ragley Hall Estate to get lost in the 3D maze, or go to Kenilworth Castle with its kids' audio trail covering the history of the castle and the lovelorn Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to impress Queen Elizabeth I. Kids will probably also like the gizmos at Stratford’s MAD (Mechanical Art and Design) Museum, Hatton Farm Village at Warwick or driving you nuts around the world’s biggest collection of historic British cars at the Heritage Motor Centre, which has the Land Rover Experience, a nature path and a playground.
