  • Peaceful site on a farm 20 minutes' walk from Snitterfield
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; farm shop and café on site
Well now, here’s a dilemma – settle in for a pie and pint at the local hostelry, grab some farm cider to accompany the sausages sizzling on the barbie or wander over to the site's own café for something cooked up using fresh local produce. All options are equally appealing at The Apple Farm, a peaceful site on a 60-acre farm and orchard three miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. From here it’s a leisurely 20-minute stroll to the village of Snitterfield for meals and drinks in the friendly pub, or to pick up local produce in the village shop. A 10-minute walk from your digs is The Farm, which has a farm shop and café as well as assorted farm antics to get stuck in with. Back at base alfresco evenings are a cinch, as barbecues and campfires are enthusiastically encouraged. There’s heaps of space to ramble around on site too – might you entice the kids to go off-grid with the idea of spotting bunnies, deer and a little fairy kingdom as they roam around? Heading out, there are fishing lakes next door and plenty of easy day trips around Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Pitches a very good distance away from other campers, this gave the feel of truly being away from it all in the countryside, plus only eight pitches on a massive field. I liked that other then the pitches which were tripple the size of other campers sites and the areas to drive over were mowed while the rest of the meadow was left to grow tall. Instruction were good. Next to a farm shop.

Disliked would have been good to have spoken to someone as we arrived, just incase of inquiries or potential issues but as the facilities were basic this was not a problem.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious flat pitch in quiet rural location. The farm animals and honesty shop are a nice touch.

Disliked The signage for the camping field once you’ve arrived isn’t obvious and a map on the arrival email or even a clear A board just before the field would help. The facilities are quirky but the hot water in the pot wash was tepid at best.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a complete gem. Stayed a night en route to visit family. Booked as it was handy but it was a great find. Love the way the pitches are mowed to give some privacy, it was lovely and quiet, the facilities were clean and not busy but quirky - in a good way. Tempted by the corner bath but had a lovely shower. Great space in the shower to change and keep your clothes dry. Signal was good enough to watch the world cup game. Sadly we just did one night but will definitely stay again. The apple juice we bought as we left was amazing too and definitely welcome in a heatwave

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Peaceful, well laid out site with plenty of space on each pitch. The bathrooms are very pleasant. Very much enjoyed the fresh apple juice from the honesty shop. Liked seeing the animals around the farm. Cobbs farm shop next door was very convenient too. Nice easy walk up to the obelisk which you can see from the site.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a lovely camping spot. So handy for Stratford. The pitches are huge, well kept and ground is soft and easy to pitch. Very well organised booking process good communication from the site owner.

Disliked There was no hot water for my shower on two occasions. Seems a bit hit and miss. I used the Apple wet room. Others in our group were fine.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful camping field with pitches well spaced from others. It was always a pleasure to walk into the orchard to use the shower and toilet huts nestled in the orchard. Peaceful and a great place to reset.

Local attractions

After you’ve stretched your legs strolling around the site, there are further woodland walks a few minutes away at Welcombe Hills, where you can follow a nature trail or seek out Margaret’s Well, said to have inspired Shakespeare to create the character of Ophelia in Hamlet. The Monarch's Way long-distance trail passes close by too, for those seeking a longer trek or a walk into Stratford-upon-Avon. Fresh-air activities can also be had with fishing at Arden Lakes, next to the site, or playing a few rounds at one of several golf courses in the area. If you didn’t fancy the walk it’ll take 10 minutes or so to drive to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the Stratford Butterfly Farm. For more historical visits, Charlecote Park, Mary Arden's Farm and Warwick Castle are all within a 15-minute drive.
