Liked Really friendly staff, always available if needed. Lovely site, toilets/showers really clean and plenty. Onsite pub really good, again, friendly and prices reasonable. Close to the canal for a nice walk and not far from Llangollen for a nice visit.

Disliked Only issue really was the road noise, cant be helped because of the location, but it is rather annoying. Next visit, will try and get a pitch further from the road.

Liked Clean well maintained Site.

Disliked Unbearable traffic noise all throughout the night even on Saturday night and early Sunday. We were aware there would be traffic noise but so so close to a major very busy road we found it difficult to sleep. My advice is to bring Earplugs.

What customers say

This is a clean and well-maintained site with friendly, helpful staff and excellent facilities including showers and toilets. Guests enjoy the on-site bar and the convenient location for canal walks and nearby pubs. A recurring point is the noticeable road noise from the adjacent A5, which some find intrusive while others are less bothered. Pitches are generally spacious and level.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (premium, XL)

Liked Was in bay 15 and was spoilt for space!

What a lovely site.
Arrived mid week and grew busier as weekend arrived.
Across the road to the canal for a walk before ending with a pint at the Poachers. Food looked very nice but never ate ourselves.
Site has a club bar which opens at weekends. Again never tried as rather busy outside for our dog.
A small walk under the motorway was a shaded walk for our furry friend. Farmer fields either side leading to a national path walk.
Was in easy driving distance for the
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which was a lovely walk and we ate at the Telford pub. Lovely steak pie!

People had mentioned noise from the A5 but as we come from south east London don’t bother us at all 😜

Showers and toilets were clean and tidy.

Disliked Nothing at all

Liked Close to garden centre for coffee and browsing!

Disliked Basically this site is a car park, very very noisy, next to what sounds like a motorway with traffic noise 24/7
Facilities are tired but adequate
Laundry was very expensive
Gravel pitches, no privacy, non existent landscaping, very expensive and poor value for money

Liked Location - great location, 2 min walk from Llangollen Canal, Chirk Aqueduct. Short drive to Chirk castle and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Friendly and responsive - lovely staff, friendly. I called ahead as we were arriving after 6pm & Mandy was super helpful checking us in.

Pitches - spacious gravel pitches, pretty flat with EHU and water. It was really hot on arrival but were able to switch to shaded pitch, more comfy for dog

Cleanliness - bin store was clean as were bathroom. Bathroom area needs a little TLC but on the whole were clean

Facilities - onsite bar, laundry and washing up area. Spacious showers with accessible shower cubicle.

Wifi - good

Disliked Generally not a lot to dislike but some points to consider -

Dusty - it got a little dusty when a car drove by our pitch and lifts the dust

*Noise - lots of people mentioned noise in previous reviews. You can hear traffic and it was busier on Friday ( we arrived) and quieter on Saturday. It didn’t bother us and we both slept well in our campervan.

Showers - not all cubicles had hooks, i took my own to hang over the door. The shower head need replacing

Local attractions

Longing for the outdoor life? Rafters can hire a craft and splash their way down the rapids at Llangollen (15 minutes' drive), a pretty village in the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains. Those with courage left to spare can abseil, walk through gorges or clamber over rocks at the place's couple of outdoor activity centres; there's also scope for more relaxing rides aboard a volunteer-run heritage railway and horse-drawn jaunts in a restored barge. The ancient town of Chester (30 minutes) is also close if you're up for a change of scene – with museums, Roman remains and one of the finest zoos in all of England, there's a lot here to please any curious kids you've brought along. Additional hands-on activities can be sorted with a trip to Wrexham's Xplore Science Discovery Centre (15 minutes), where live science demos should put a sparkle in any budding boffin's eye. Other likeable local spots include engineering triumphs such as Chirk Aqueduct (20 minutes' walk) and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (10 minutes' drive) or historic houses like Chirk Castle (10 minutes) and Plas Newydd (15 minutes).
