General

  • Peaceful family-friendly site on the banks of the River Severn
  • Shrewsbury sights, restaurants and shops within 15 minutes' walk
  • Half an hour from Ironbridge Gorge and the Shropshire Hills

In need of an escape? Settle in at Camping at West Midlands Showground, a family-friendly Shropshire site less than 15 minutes’ drive from Shrewsbury town centre, where tourist sites and shopping are within easy reach and there’s plenty of green space for kids and the pooch to run wild on.

Peaceful urban getaways are a dream here: days can be spent wandering the winding medieval streets of Shrewsbury, exploring castle and abbey, strolling around gardens and parks, following the Darwin Town Trail (the evolutionist was born here) and taking boating trips on the Severn. Bliss, no?

Anyone fishing for a good time should swim back to site and cast a line in the Severn. On the Greenhous West Mid Showground, the site’s pretty basic, but it does have its own fishing rights – plus there’s no way not to get the most of Shropshire and Shrewsbury explores, and finding fab eateries, pubs and ways to pass the time will be a piece of cake.

Speaking of cake, there are plenty of restaurants in Shrewsbury for local bites, and barbecues are welcome on site for anyone keen to take care of themselves.

Please note

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Great location but overpriced. 02/01/2019

  • Liked:

Quiet and close to town. Secure as the gates were locked at nightime. Small number of pitches. Would use again but mainly for the location.

    Disliked:

Rally people using facilities set aside for the campsite. No drive over waste water disposal. Expensive at £25 per pitch considering the facilities.

From the manager...

Hi

Thanks for your feedback - We are sorry about the Rally groups using the facilities set aside for this area, we will address this going forwards. We are pleased you like the location and the area itself, we will continue to improve the facilities and we will look into providing a "drive over waste point"

Thanks again

Facilities poor. Only one toilet which was blocked. No staff to help on arrival

From the manager...

Hi

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry you found the facilities poor, once the blocked toilet was reported to us it was rectified and it is unfortunate, as we have many other toilet facilities on the site, it is a very new area for us we are still having some teething issues, hopefully this didn't detract from your visit and we were pleased that you found our location "Great" hopefully we can improve on your ext visit ?

Thanks again

New hardstandings, very convenient for the riverside walk into Shrewsbury. Good comms from Ian the site manager as the area is unattended overnight. Didn’t try new shows and toilet facilities. One of the closest sites to a lovely town centre in the UK.
