  • Three-acre rural Shropshire site 10 minutes' drive from Oswestry
  • Walk to nature reserves or canal; Chirk Castle 20 minutes' drive
  • Easy access from A483; five minutes' walk from a farm shop and pub
Three fabulous acres of Shropshire countryside await guests at Overdale Camping – and with guest numbers kept to a sensible limit, there's always space to relax, play games or have barbecue evenings. Shropshire is the official location of this small-scale, family-run site (it’s about three miles south of Oswestry), but it's also handily close to the Welsh border, so you’ll be able to spend your days taking in attractions and activities on both sides. And although this is a proper rural spot, it's easily accessed from the A483, so getting out and about should be nice and straightforward. Lots of excellent natural landscapes and man-made attractions are close by for your days out, but in fact you won’t have to go that far to stretch your legs, because there are several nature reserves within walking distance and the Montgomery Canal cycle trail is about a mile away. Also handily close by are a farm shop and a pub serving drinks and meals – both within five minutes' walk. On site, guests have access to facilities including toilets, showers and a kitchen, and there are firepits available to hire for atmospheric campfire evenings.

What customers say

Overdale Camping offers a spacious and well-maintained site with friendly, helpful owners. Guests consistently praise the cleanliness of facilities, including toilets and showers, and the flat pitches. Glamping options like pods and bell tents are popular, with comfortable beds noted. A local pub is within easy walking distance. Some minor points include a need for clearer signage on arrival and occasional noise from a nearby road. Hot tub hire is a recurring highlight.

Lunar bell tent

Liked Nice peaceful site, everything was spotlessly clean and we cared for. The Geodome was amazing, with the decking for nights watching the stars. The hosts were also amazing, very friendly couple who were always around to help if you needed anything. There is a pub serving really good food about a five minute walk or 2 mins in the car.

Lunar bell tent

Liked Lovely welcome on arrival. Great check in and check out times. Tent was perfect and we had 2 great night's sleep. Hired bedding that was warm and lovely quality. Loved the star gazing tent facility. Tent was clean and sofa was a lovely added bonus.
Nice chilled site and owners made you feel very welcome and were around if you needed anything.
Toilet facilities were great for size of site and very clean with good supplies.
We will not hesitate to stay again and it was wonderful to have a look at the fabulous dome tent.
Site well located for getting to Oswestry town centre and local pub was great and only around five minutes walk.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Camping pod (three person)

Liked We stayed in a pod for a night. It was nice and clean, lovely, comfy beds, indoor and outdoor seating. Nice clean facilities. The hosts were friendly and very accommodating. A nice big field for kids to run around and play. Fireplace at request, for a small cost, we couldn't have asked for more :) Thank you

Lunar bell tent

Liked Amazing campsite! Lunar tents are spotless and very spacious. Beds are very comfy and even has and couch and chair to relax inside. Outside they have a picnic bench so no need to pack camping tables. Owners on site several times to check we where ok and if we needed anything and checking facilities where clean and fully stocked. Recommend paying the extra upgrade for hot tub was a lovely touch and we where kept fully stocked up on logs to fuel it.Would deffiently recommend and deffiently be back. Very good value for money

Lunar bell tent

Liked Great hosts, very friendly, always there to assist with any needs. Fabulous location, within reach of local towns and attractions. Wonderful spacious site with various accom options available. Comments in disliked aren't necessarily negative, just observations. I would return here again and recommend to others.

Disliked Not so much "disliked" as potential areas for improvement... noisy road nearby throughout which is more noticeable during the night, advise to take earplugs. Only 1 shower and fairly tight cubicle, otherwise hot flowing and clean though. No electric hook-up available, again not the worst thing in the world, a small generator is accessible for all near the kitchen area for charging points. No WiFi access which really would be beneficial due to remote location meaning any 4g/5g and phone signal is also limited.

Lunar bell tent

Liked We had a lovely time at Overdale. Ned and his wife are very friendly, welcomed onto campsite, we had booked the hot tub and firepit, got plenty of wood to burn. Toilets and showers are kept clean at all times. The bell tent had plenty of room, the skylight was a great idea to watch the stars and enjoy the sunrise, also had a picnic bench outside. Plenty of space for field games and a couple of frisbee golf baskets, bring a frisbee. A very pleasant experience all round.

Liked Cleanliness, space, owners are lovely.
Lots of space between tents, although there was a big party at the top of the field we couldn’t hear them
Owners checked up on everyone a couple of times, really helpful.

Disliked Could do with an extra toilet
