Hot tub and swimming pool

General

  • Remote nudist site: experience the feeling of being naked
  • Woods, cliffs, crags and caves of Hawkstone Park Follies nearby
  • Outdoor pool and covered hot tub

Who needs clothes anyway? Cast off your clobber and have a stay at this properly peaceful nudist site in deepest Shropshire.

Set well away from the main drag down a mile-long country lane, surrounded by grazing fields for cattle, sheep and horses edged by hedgerows filled with wildlife, Wrekin View Naturist Club is a haven for those who prefer their bod to remain unadorned while they take a well-earned break among spectacularly natural surroundings.

Since 1963 this site has been welcoming naturist families to its five-acre place in this quiet, rural and remote corner of Shropshire, surrounded by nothing but hills and natural boundaries, and a handy 14 miles from Telford should you ever wish to enter back into civilisation while you're there.

There's a relaxation area with an outdoor pool and hot tub for dips, and comfy seating for southward views and sunbathing over at the cottage. More basking is done over on the cottage lawn, where huge benches that face each other facilitate social time – more of which can be had at the site's twice-daily complementary tea and coffee meetups.

Strolls through the woods are another highly recommended relaxing pursuit around here – tall trees provide shade to a mixture of ferns, uncut grass, bluebells and other seasonal wildflowers, and the several picnic tables that lie dotted around provide peaceful resting places and treat-scoffing spots.

For a bit of gentle activity en plein air, the miniature tennis and boules court are a top spot, and there's also a ping pong table here for everyone to use.

Each of this site's roomy pitches is grassy and level with a hedge behind and a grassy space in front. The natural water comes from the site's own certified bore hole, which you can collect from various stand pipes around the park. The guest kitchen in the cottage is fully kitted out with a double sink, ample worktop space, three fridges, a full-size gas catering oven, a microwave, kettles and a small dining table.

Wrekin View doesn't have a bar but guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol.

We just wanted to say what a fantastic weekend we had with you all. Our first naturist experience and one to remember. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to return to the lovely site with great facilities and I promise not to give heart attacks to anyone coming out the toilets early morning. Looking forward to coming back next year. Thanks again. Xx

What a beautiful, serene spot in the heart of Shropshire. We had such a warm welcome from the members of the club, the site was very safe & secure and the caravan stocked with everything we needed for a mini break. Everything is spotlessly clean & it’s a communal effort to ensure that things are kept clean. Lovely gardens, a pool & a hot tub and great showers. Couldn’t fault it. It was like stepping back in time ... and the stars at night were amazing, too. A really charming site, definitely back to nature.

We loved our holiday at Wrekin View. The people were lovely, it was nice and clean and picturesque. The hot tub was lovely too. They had a kitchen to use if you didn't want to bring cooking equipment. The club house is available for pool games and we had a dj on Saturday night which was great. We would definitely go again.

    Disliked:

We normally camp at Wrekin but on our last visit we spotted that there was one of the caravans to hire so decided to give it a go. We're so glad we did. The caravan is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The caravan, like all the vans on site, isn't connected to the water supply so it is a bucket loo but that is not an issue as it is a short walk to the excellent shower block. For filling the kettle and washing up, there is a stand pipe very close to the van which can be used to fill the water butt and a pump system gives you hot and cold running water. There is a full sized larder fridge and you have use of the freezer in the cottage kitchen (close to the shower block). I loved the fact that there is also a full cooker so we were still able to have a roast dinner and not have to rely on the 2 ring juggle we would have had if we had been in our tent!

The site boasts a swimming pool and hot tub which we haven't used yet but is very well maintained.

The most important thing about Wrekin is the friendliness of the members. Always a hello when you pass each other and a wave if too far away to chat!

We just wished we lived closer so we could come more often. I would highly recommend this site whether you are new or old to naturism and whether you camp, caravan, motor home or rent the van. It's a fantastic, friendly site.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at this lovely tranquil club, the views are stunning and the members could not be friendlier, the camp is well laid out and our static caravan was perfect, we especially loved the hot tub and the game of strip pool lol. We had a lovely surprise as we walked into the Saturday evening party/disco (resident dj, the Steve) with applause and shouts of congratulations, thank you again for the beautiful handmade table decoration and making us laugh so much at the "game for a laugh". We will be back as soon as we can.

Local attractions

Wrekin View Naturist Club might well be remote but it's certainly not isolated: to the south is the historic hotspot of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin, and to the north lies Whitchurch, home of the world-renowned clockmaker J.B. Joyce. A journey east will take you to the town of Market Drayton, or travel west and you'll reach the historic town of Wemwill.

Over at Hawkstone Park Follies is an enchanted woodland filled with cliffs, crags, caves, deep woods and a series of historic monuments for scenic walks and bike rides, and archery lessons, donkey rides and a petting zoo are available there too. For more animal-themed adventure, visit West Midlands Safari Park, around 70 minutes' drive from the site.

History buffs can visit the 19th-century citadel at Weston-under-Redcastle or the 11th-century castle over at Moreton Corbet, and there's enough there to fill days upon days of sightseeing around the 10 museums and 35 historic sites of the vast Ironbridge Gorge Museum, around half an hour's drive away. Bridgnorth Cliff Railway – a Victorian funicular that connects the upper and lower parts of the town – is a 45-minute drive from Wrekin View.
