  • No-frills site on a Shropshire farm with views of the Cheshire Plains
  • A 10-minute drive to Market Drayton; half an hour to Stoke on Trent
  • Meet the animals; farm shop selling fresh produce; leave-no-trace site
Set up in a remote spot with birdsong and farm animals as your morning soundtrack… Park Hill Farm is a scenic site on a dog-friendly working farm 10 minutes’ drive from Market Drayton, in north Shropshire. And in case you’re wondering just how scenic the location is… well, it overlooks the Cheshire Plains, Wrekin and the Welsh hills, as well as sitting alongside a woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The site is set up for wild camping – meaning back-to-basics (and eco-friendly) facilities including a toilet and shower block and a convenient washing-up station. It's run on a 'leave no trace' ethos and doesn't have its own bins, so all rubbish must be taken away with you. There’s no electricity or wifi, so instead of scrolling on their phones, children can let off steam in the fresh air and get involved in meeting the animals with the farmer (new friends may include pigs, cows and cats). Sourcing supplies for a gas barbecue is simple, since the site sells free-range eggs from its happy hens, along with its own beef burgers, pork sausages and bacon, plus a handful of pre-packaged essentials like bread, milk, breakfast cereals and ice creams. If you’re in need of any extras, the village of Loggerheads (10 minutes’ drive along the A53) has a couple of small shops, as well as a pub and an Indian restaurant. If you want to leave the car behind, Loggerheads can be reached with a splendid 15-minute walk through the countryside. (This is just one of several paths you can take from the site through the local woodlands and farmlands. The farm shop has maps you can borrow.)

What customers say

This is a highly recommended, peaceful campsite on a working farm, praised for its beautiful views, sunsets, and tranquil atmosphere. Visitors highlight the exceptionally friendly and welcoming owners, Pat and John, who go above and beyond for their guests. Facilities are described as clean and exceeding expectations for a basic site, with hot water available. The farm shop offers delicious local produce. The site is ideal for families and those seeking a quiet getaway, with woodland walks and local amenities within easy reach. The opportunity to interact with farm animals, especially the piglets, is a significant highlight. While generally very positive, one reviewer mentioned noisy cows and another noted the absence of general waste disposal facilities, though the owners explained their "leave no trace" ethos. Overall, a "gem of a site" offering great value and a memorable experience.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Very welcoming host, Pat. I even got a tour of the farm and met the week-old piglets! Lovely views of the sunset from the site; plentiful and very clean toilets; decent showers; some good walks nearby; farm animals to see and a fair few cats(although they don’t bother you, if you’re not a cat person)!

Disliked Nothing, it’s a lovely site and clearly well cared-for

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What an absolute gem of a site! The facilities far exceeded our expectations for what is advertised (and priced) as a basic site. The views, the sunsets, the peace and quiet and the cutest week old piglets made for a perfect getaway. John and Pat made us feel so welcome - they pour their heart and soul into ensuring campers have the best time without being at all intrusive. The sausages and bacon from their farm shop are out of this world! One of the best sites we've ever stayed on. We can't wait to return very soon!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I was blown away by how nice of a stay this was. I was slightly thrown back when I heard there was composite loo's as I hate going in front of people or people hearing me 😂 but Pat and John have 2 ladies toilets and 2 men's equipped with beautiful clean fresh showers.

The views are beyond anything expected and I really did not want to leave. John kindly gave us a tour around the pigs and my little boy got to stroke one of the week old piglets. The hospitality they gave , going round the camp making sure everyone has everything they need and there was none of the don't do this and do that, it was simply to inform people of local amenities, their farm shop and just genuine kind conversation.

They supply firepits with wood which was incredibly handy as we could roast our marshmallows and make shmores

Would highly recommend this farm to anyone looking to get a nice quiet get away, everyone is there simply enjoying family time and children running and playing and interacting and it was so nice to see.

My son is SEN and it was his first camping trip here and we will definitely be returning in the school holidays.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Pitch size was great. Exceptional view over Shropshire towards the Cheshire hills. Quiet location. Great to get up close to the animals on a working farm. Short walk into loggerheads through the wood adjacent to the site. Extremely friendly owners and a great welcome. Highlight was getting to hold 1 week old piglets. The farm shop sausages and steak are out of this world, the best ribeye steak we’ve had in years. Definitely better setup than the pitch up description would imply. Fire pits and generous quantities of logs can be purchased and dropped off to your pitch which is an added bonus. Very good price, if a little under the going rate for such a good site - we would gladly pay more.
This site is one of only a few that we would class as exceptional; we will definitely be returning to soon.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Liked A lovely, peaceful campsite with great hosts and a lovely welcome. The facilities exceeded our expectations and were immaculate. The pigs and cows were definitely a highlight of our visit and we really enjoyed the bacon from the farm shop. Thank you Pat and John.

From the manager: Thank you so much Alison for this heartfelt review. This means a lot to us. It was lovely meeting you both and we hope you managed the woodland walk this morning.

Ahh the cooking smell of bacon on a camp site will catch everyone's interest, and thank you for supporting Park Hill Farm by buying some bacon from us. As you know it's all from our own herd of pigs. Our www.parkhillfarm.co.uk website has information on the piggies and cattle which may be of interest.

We hope you get home feeling rested, and to see you again this summer when you need some additional R and R! Thank you again for taking the time to review us.

Best wishes John and Pat

Liked Three of us stayed in our vans, we had a lovely stay. We only stayed one night, we will come back again.

Pam was very responsive and helpful to our messages. The toilets and showers are clean. We loved the piggies! We went for dinner at the local Indian which was a beautiful 15 minute walk through the forest.
