Fancy quiet hols in pretty and peaceful Shropshire countryside? Tiptoe along to Abdo Hill Farm, a family-friendly site less than 10 minutes’ drive from Shropshire's Market Drayton. This is outdoor holidaymaking without too many bells and whistles… facilities like toilet blocks, waste disposal and barbecue disposal are all in place, but there’s nothing else to distract from unwinding days of playing with the kids or taking a walk with the family’s four-legged companion. There are plenty of walks to inspire waggy tails and happy humans hereabouts though, starting with a stroll along Shropshire Union Canal (which passes about five minutes away) before travelling on half an hour to Ercall Wood, where an eight-mile loop that climbs the Wrekin starts. Do try to make it all the way to the top too, as it’s said one can see five counties from the peak on a clear day… It can be a challenging climb, so make sure to load up on fresh eggs and home-cured bacon (available on site) before the attempt, and plan to self-reward with some pub food and pints at the nearby inn less than five minutes from base, once the path circles back to terra firma.

Camping pod

Liked Lovely small setting for younger children, Paul was a fantastic host there to greet us upon arrival and if we needed him at any point, gave us a lovely recommendation for food and had good local knowledge. Extremely clean facilities we stayed in the pod close to the play area so we could see our children and relax at the same time we would love to stay again on a sunny weekend we fell unfortunate with the weather but apart from that (which cant be helped)!! 10/10

Liked Paul was a brilliant host. Really helpful with local ideas. The toilet/shower facilities were amazing (a must for me to camp!) and a nice small site where the kids could run around and enjoy the playground onsite.
Lots of things to do locally and a brilliant smokehouse restaurant and a local revolution distillery all within walking distance.

Liked Relaxed but organised atmosphere, kids play area was perfect for our 4 and 7 year old and there was plenty of space to play other games around the field. Paul was attentive and helpful but not intrusive and lovely to chat to. The toilet blocks were excellent and kept very clean and tidy. With Aldi, Lidl and Market Drayton only a short drive away it was a great location where you could just chill on site or pop off for emergency supplies or a wonder around the shops.

Liked Paul was exceptionally friendly and helpful, supervising the non-stop work throughout the visit. The electric socket was further away from us and our extension lead proved too short, Paul kindly lent his own to ensure we had power access.

Liked Only stopped for one night on the way home from our road trip round wales but Abdo Farm was a nice little site. Facilities were brand new and were great. Paul couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. Great site and I imagine a great base to explore the local area. A must if stopping at Abdo Farm is a meal at Redwood Smokehouse

Liked The friendly and helpful owner Paul reserved us a well shaded corner of the site, even though we didn't commit to an arrival time.
The toilet and shower block was spotlessly clean and the free showers were excellent.
The flat grassy field is very well maintained and the kids loved the play area.
