  • Dog-friendly Oxfordshire farm site in the village of North Moreton
  • Didcot Railway Centre 10 minutes' drive; 25 minutes to Oxford
  • Large field with level pitches; pub and bus stop five minutes' walk
Quiet rural farm site, or somewhere that you can easily walk to the village pub? Roll both things into one location at St. Peter’s Farm Campsite, surrounded by fabulous Oxfordshire countryside and yet a mere five minutes’ walk from the local pub in the village of North Moreton. That location brings lots of benefits – you’ll get the peaceful experience that comes from staying on a spacious and level field that’s part of a farm with horses and wildlife areas, but you’ll also be able to stroll up to the village for a meal, a drink or some time at the playground with the kids. There are plenty of good routes around for longer walks too, and the site is dog-friendly so your furry pal can join you. Looking to explore further afield? A bus service from the village runs to Didcot, or you can drive there in about 10 minutes. Wallingford is similarly about 10 minutes away, and both towns are handy sources of shops and places to eat. Oxford (25 minutes’ drive) is also easy to visit from here, and there are plenty of attractions around from the Didcot Railway Centre and Aston Martin Heritage Trust to the Iron Age hillfort at Wittenham Clumps. Pitches at this site are fairly simple but have access to ladies’ and gents’ toilets and showers, a chemical disposal point and a washing-up area, and you’ll be allowed to light campfires or barbecues. There’s a separate field that can be used by rallies and groups such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great field lots of space. Porta loos scattered around for easy access for toilet. Very friendly host , was helpful and very laid back. Was able to make a campfire and BBQs were permitted. Would definitely stay here again, very good price! Supermarkets within a ten minutes drive, and a pub 15 mins walk away with a nice walk through fields

Disliked The showers were a little far and only had two. Wasn't too busy so was able to use straight away. The waste pipe seemed to be a little blocked. Only had to use once so didn't really bother me.

Back to nature on a great flat field.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Large field with plenty of space between pitches.
Portaloos to compensate for the far away toilets.

Disliked Train line is close by and ran til late, it kept me up so only fell asleep at midnight (only seemed to start around 8am on a Sunday morning though).
Toilet block was very run down and in a shipping container. Only 2 showers also in a shipping container.
The site seemed to mostly be used for storing camper vans, it didn’t have a very nice feel to it in general.

From the manager: Hello Cecilia,
I'm sorry to hear that you are so unhappy.
The train line is nearly 500 metres away, I've just measured it! Sometimes when the weather is still sound can travel but as you said they were quiet between midnight and 8am.
Yes my loos and showers are shipping containers, this is because we are in the area of outstanding natural beauty and a conservation area so I'm not allowed to build any permanent structures.
I do have only 2 showers but they are both 2 1/2 metre square wet rooms designed to be family friendly so this does reduce waiting times.
I do store caravans and campers and unfortunately due to the layout of the site you have to drive through this before getting to the campsite which most other campers find peaceful, pretty and welcoming.
I hope you find what you are looking for.
Kind regards,
Jon Slade

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Flat pitches, pub close, friendly site owner

Disliked More showers is a must theres only 2 which the site wasn't that busy but was still line for them at points in the day. also loos could have been cleaner and have locks on doors, there was also nothing to dry your hands with no dryer or paper towels. The porter loos are a great touch around the site although they were a bit smelly and dirty (I dont know how othen they are clean properly. (People could respect them a bit more ! )

Quute a few Dogs off the lead running about while owners just sat and relaxed...not great !

a few families staying, kids were filling up water guns leaving the taps on then running about getting other campers wet while they are trying to relax parents were running around also with them ! And playing ball close to pitches and balls hitting vans !!

(I've got children and it's just polite not to let your kids run about around others )

Maybe family pitches could be sited far end of site ?

Most of this had Nothing to do with the campsite or owner just selfish people.

Excellent site, 5 mins walk from good local pub.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked I was In a campervan but didn’t want EHU as only there for one night. So camped in the large well maintained, tree lined camping field. Was very peaceful. The pub down the road served delicious food and was only a 5 minute walk.

Good location. Level field. Basic, unglamorous, but enjoyable.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Quiet and basic site with level large grass field site.
Access to footpaths to visit local villages. Close to a pub with decent brown beer and (posh£) food.
Village cricket pitch and young children's play area just outside the entrance.
On a bus route into Didcot and its main line train station.

Disliked Main train line runs close to site and can be loud (soon get used to it)
The way into the site field is a bit off-putting, as it's lined with lots of campervans and caravans being long-term stored.

Stay here for a relaxed break, listen to birds and watch the kites

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Our second weekend in a row to stay here, love the large, flat and peaceful field. Liked the c3 mile walk through the fields into Wallingford. Did try and walk to the South Moreton pub on the way back but failed to find the right route! We are told it can be done though, or there's the Bear just a few minutes walk from the site. Relaxed arrival/departure time. We came via Didcot this time, which was a much better route for motorhomes.

Local attractions

If you’re planning a full countryside experience, schedule in walks around places like the Wittenham Clumps (10 minutes’ drive), which has lovely Thames Valley views as you stroll through meadows and woodlands. The Ridgeway, Europe’s oldest highway, is also close by for scenic walks and bike rides. You’ll have seen horses on site, but for further animal sightings you can pay a visit to Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary (five minutes), or find more exotic species at The Living Rainforest (25 minutes). Pendon Museum (10 minutes) is a good place to get a sense of what this area was like about 100 years ago, and you can also step into the past with a ride on the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway (10 minutes). For other days out, visit the excellent Didcot Railway Centre (10 minutes), admire the stylish cars at Aston Martin Heritage Trust (20 minutes) or head to Oxford (25 minutes) to tour the colleges, visit the castle-prison and museums and try your hand at punting.
