What customers say
This is a well-maintained site with spacious pitches, praised for its cleanliness and friendly staff. Guests enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, numerous walking routes, and excellent dog walking facilities. The fishing lakes and proximity to Oxford are highlighted as positives. Some feedback mentions inconsistent WiFi, occasional noise from nearby planes/trains, and dated facilities in certain areas. Despite these minor points, many visitors express a desire to return.

Despite concern about recent negative reviews all was fine for us.
Electric gravel touring pitch
Liked The location for Blenheim palace and visiting Oxford was good. The pitch was pleasant and spacious. There were plenty of the usual facilities available for camping for the number of people including toilets, showers, washing up sinks and very hot water. They were clean enough. Dogs were very well catered for with walks including a large secure field to run off lead. It was quiet and our fellow campers were friendly and respectful. We arrived after reception was closed but were emailed with instructions where to find our pitch. The “building site” is tidy and wasn’t noisy. It looks like the site has a lot of potential and is undergoing a transition period. We didn’t miss the closed down cafe, bar and shop while this is going on. There’s an “open all hours” co-op in the village.
Disliked I wish there was still a pub open within easy walking distance. Both seem to have closed over the past couple of years. There was a whiff of drains in certain places but I expect there will be some upgrading and maintenance soon for that.

Good for a stopover
Electric gravel touring pitch
Liked Pitch was a good size with electric hookup. Water not far away.
Beautiful tree lined drive and nice welcome on arrival.
Disliked A lot of building work going on so constant noise until 6.00pm which was disturbing. After 6.00pm lovely and peaceful evening with wildlife. I imagine that once the building work finishes this will be a lovely peaceful site in the future.

Don't go here if you're looking for a peaceful break
Electric gravel touring pitch
Liked Clean toilet block. Helpful reception staff although construction staff were not.
Disliked We were shocked when we arrived at the changes to what used to be a beautiful and peaceful site. It is now basically a pretty big building site all over what were the biggest fields with a few remaining pitches for tourers. Noisy building work started before 7am on some days we were there and carried on until 6pm every day with no let up. Construction vehicles are regularly coming and going. The site bears no resemblance to what is advertised on the Internet(and what was there last year), the shop, cafe, one of the toilet blocks and the main access to the river are all gone. We returned to this site to get some respite from living near HS2 construction and found ourselves right back in the same relentless disturbance. It is no longer a great place to stay.

Disgraceful treatment of customers

Liked Nothing. Never actually got to stay.
Disliked My booking was cancelled due to the site converting to be adult only, but I was only contacted to refund my payment the day before I was due to travel with my child for our summer trip to celebrate finishing school. No adequate explanation offered for why such a change might be made mid season when bookings had already been taken and paid for.

Liked A brilliant camping field!
Disliked It is deeply disappointing that the owner appears to have prioritised a luxury home development while neglecting the existing touring site and the paying customers who keep it operating. We booked in good faith, relying on the information provided on the website and the positive Pitchup reviews, but neither reflected the reality we encountered.
The site felt neglected throughout. The facilities were shabby and poorly maintained, with some areas in obvious need of even basic decoration and upkeep. Hygiene standards were also disappointing, with drinking water hoses left lying on the ground at the water points. The small shop was inadequately stocked, the information regarding access to public transport was misleading, and there was constant noise from building works, none of which was disclosed before our arrival.
The lack of a warm welcome only reinforced the impression that touring guests are no longer valued. The contrast between the promotional material and the actual experience was stark and left us feeling thoroughly misled.
Had there been a suitable alternative that fitted our travel plans, we would have left immediately. Regrettably, we felt we had little choice but to stay, turning what should have been an enjoyable break into a thoroughly disappointing experience.
Having stayed at seven touring sites during this trip, this was by far the poorest value for money. Given the condition of the site and the overall experience, we found it very difficult to justify the prices being charged.

Excellent location for Blenheim Palace
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We only stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a non-electric tent pitch and the field was really nice with lovely surroundings and was the quietest pitch I've camped in. The campsite is ideally placed for Blenheim Palace.
Disliked Not so much a dislike but phone charging points would have been handy.
