Lakeside view of the park

  • Peaceful family-friendly site on a farm in the Oxfordshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to Oxford and an hour to the Cotswolds
  • Four fishing lakes, river access and on-site shop
Switch between the pedestrianised alleys of the ‘city of dreaming spires’ and the mellow hills and countryside tea rooms of the Cotswolds… all on the same day if you wish. Set your base in Greenhill Leisure Park, a family-run farm site surrounded by the Oxfordshire countryside in Bletchingdon, within 25 minutes' drive of Oxford and an hour from the Cotswolds National Landscape. There are certainly no shortages of countryside pursuits on hand, with four fishing lakes on site stocked with carp or coarse fish and a nice selection of countryside rambles or woodland walks from the site. Where to start, with 270 acres to explore on this farm site? You could while away the afternoon with a riverside picnic while watching the canal boats glide by or head to the carp fishing lake for a test of strength… the biggest fish weigh up to a hefty 30lbs. Beat any bouts of the tummy grumbles with the on-site shop. Other facilities include a toilet block, launderette and washing-up facilities. There’s a dedicated grassy area for dogs to stretch their legs, if you’ve brought a canine friend along for the ride too.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Dog friendly, plenty of open space for walks and exploring. Gorgeous scenery, very quiet and peaceful. The team on reception were so lovely and welcoming. Toilet/shower cubicles clean and tidy. Lovely little spot to spend a weekend would definitely recommend.

Disliked Our pitch was further towards the bottom of the site, so very quiet and peaceful. There is a big child’s play area however and it can get quite noisy at times near this, only heard it in the distance but just something to be aware of! Not an issue as such just a note on noise levels (to be expected with kids about!)

Liked Had a brilliant time, facility’s were excellent, the staff all so friendly.
Loved being able to go and have a drink and food at the cafe.
Would definitely recommend and come back.

Disliked Only a small gripe and that was that we were situated the other side of the children’s park, I know it’s a family friendly site. It was quite noisy with kids screaming but it didn’t really takeaway from our enjoyment

Liked Nice good size pitches, showers where clean and a good size plenty of room. Site very clean and well kept, escorted to our pitch by a very friendly member of the team, explained where everything was and if we needed anything or help they our here to help and advise. Shop basic but everything you needed, nice cafe/pub on site which was a added bonus, also a lovely little gift shop. Lots of nice mowed pathways to walk and nice large dog exercise field for your four legged friend. Would definitely come again and recommend friends and family.

Liked This was our second visit to Greenhill and we will definitely come again.
From the moment you arrive, you check in at reception where all staff were really friendly and get shown to your pitch. We were given a map of the site which was handy and the boys could plan where they wanted to go. The pitches are immaculately kept, as is the rest of the site. The toilets are cleaned regularly, always toilet roll, warm showers (that actually stay on). Great washing up facilities and all taps on site are drinking water. The park is a great size and all equipment in great condition.
There are some lovely walks, Great fishing Lakes and river to visit. The onsite cafe and gift shop were also great! Again really friendly.
We absolutely loved our trip and will definitely be back soon.

Local attractions

Woodland walking is on the cards at Island Pond Wood (20 minutes' drive). Don’t worry, you won’t find a crocodile here… but you may spot more than one or two at Crocodiles of the World (25 minutes). Keep your eyes peeled for more wildlife, including red kites and Duke of Burgundy butterflies, in the ancient woodlands and valleys of Chiltern Hills (45 minutes). Next, go where the fashionable people used to congregate, at the historic house and gardens of Blenheim Palace (five minutes) or Waddesdon Manor (35 minutes). At Bicester Heritage (15 minutes), you can delve into a different history, this time of motoring. Or look into the city of Oxford (25 minutes), where grand libraries and cathedrals stand tall. The same Jurassic limestone that forms the hilly walking district of the Cotswolds (an hour) is on show at the ancient stone circle of the Rollright Stones (25 minutes), another old site to add to the trip’s must-visit list.
