  • Quiet secluded site close to Bicester
  • The closest site to Bicester Heritage (two miles)
  • Fishing lakes on site
What an excellent Oxfordshire site this is for anglers. And walkers. And quiet English countryside appreciators. For friendly and well-maintained Glebe Leisure Park is in a cracking countryside location on the edges of Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire as well as Oxfordshire and has two fishing lakes on site as well as lots of trails all around. Dogs – and their owners – like this place too, as there are long walks and gravelled pathways with dog waste bins set at handy locations, and it's mighty like too that cyclists will like the gentle and short pedal along to local town Bicester... Any amenities you might need are sorted here, such as a loo and shower block with info room about the surrounding area, a toilet and shower facilities for disabled guests, a chemical disposal point, drinking water outlets and a car park.

Liked Shower water was hot.
Sink (basin) was clean
Toilets clean on first day/night

Within 15 mins drive of Bicester Village if your interested in outlet shopping.

Disliked On arrival my first impression was this placed looked somewhat dated and old.

First night a group decided in the early hours from around 2-6am to make the most noise by having some sort of party, with music. Inconsiderate to others. I thought this wasn’t allowed.

Pitches not clearly marked out. We pitched our tent no problem within our parameters with our car parked at the side. Popped out for the day and came back to find new neighbours pitched beside us half on our pitch with their car parked right beside our tent. The problem lay with someone else coming to far into where my new neighbours should have pitched leaving them with very little room.

WiFi available at a cost. Don’t think I read prior to booking that they charged for WiFi.

Reception area has coffee available but the whole surface was invaded by ants, not very pleasant to see.

Asked at reception if they had any ant powder as it appeared we had pitched on an ants nest. The receptionist advised she would get the owners son who lived on the site to come over with some powder. This didn’t happen. Don’t promise something you know won’t happen.

Campsite seemed somewhat dated.

Unfortunately more dislikes than likes. Struggled to think of what I liked about this campsites.

Guess when you’re used to campsites with ratings of 9.5 and above you get accustomed to a certain standard of outdoor living. But when you drop down to in it’s 8’s you certainly see the difference.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely campsite in a good location for getting out and about and visiting the local area.

Beautiful lake on site, nice to watch the fishermen. Really nice to have picnic benches on some of the pitches too.

Two toilet/shower blocks one much more modern.

Really helpful staff, listened to my polite request about pitches and was understanding and helpful when there was a bit of a noise problem one evening.

Disliked Not a problem for me now but worth bearing in mind:

1) no fridge/freezer for use
2) no shop on site for bits and bobs

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Staff were friendly and helpful. Site kept in good order and generally clean facilities .

Disliked Unfortunately a group of travellers/gipsies in 3 or 4 large outfits arrived and set up near to us. They woke up almost the entire site one morning at 3.30am drunken, rowdy, shouting, singing and music booming out. The next 2 nights were quiet but their seven kids or more were allowed to take over the washing and toilet rooms in the mornings. The adults virtually monopolised the disabled shower and toilet room. Although several people complained to the owners there seemed to be little that could be done.

Local attractions

Plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés are in Glebe Leisure's local town of Bicester within a couple of miles, and designer clothes and accessories in the outlet shopping centre Bicester Village. Glebe is the closest site to Bicester Heritage, the first park in the UK for the tender loving restoration care of classic and vintage cars, motorbikes and planes, all on over 345 acres of an old RAF bomber station. The centre's been described as 'a historic motoring fan's idea of heaven' so do speed along there if old engines make your motor hum. Twelve miles from the site is simply smashing Blenheim Palace, given to the first Duke of Marlborough by Charlie 2 and handed down through the Churchill family to reach one Winston some decades back. You really should have a trip... Also within 12 miles are another few British institutions: the dizzying array of arty treasures at the National Trust's Waddesdon Manor; Broughton Castle at Banbury, and days out spectating fast types at Silverstone Circuit.
