  • Adults-only shepherd's huts on a farm with Vale of Belvoir views
  • A 10-minute drive to Southwell and half an hour to Nottingham
  • Bedding included and ensuite; easy access to walking and biking paths
Fancy holidaying in a hut with gorgeous walks all around? Pack your bags for Oxton Hill Hideaway, a dog-friendly site on an 80-acre farm in the Nottinghamshire countryside. It has well-equipped glamping units with access to 70 acres of mowed paths for hiking and cycling with or without your canine companion. The hilltop park is top notch for peaceful country stays among the free-roaming ducks and chickens, with views out across the Vale of Belvoir. Sit outside in a private fenced-off garden with a cuppa made in your kitchenette; each hut also includes an ensuite, woodburning stove, alfresco dining area and a gas barbecue plus handy extras like toiletries, tea, coffee and breakfast bits. Off site, venture to villages like Hallam and Oxton (less than 10 minutes’ drive) or saunter around the historic 10th-century minster town at Southwell (10 minutes’ drive) as well as its shops and cafés. For woodland walks amid age-old pines, Sherwood Forest – that of Robin Hood fame – is also 25 minutes away.

Pond-view shepherd's hut

Liked: We stayed at the Pond View Shepherds Hut at Oxton Hill Hideaway. The hut was brilliant! Well equipped and the best layout we have had for this type of accommodation. It was spacious inside with plenty of room for bags and coats. A good size table for eating and playing games. Lovely garden and outside seating area-the weather meant we did not get to use that but again that was thoughtfully organised and would be perfect for relaxing in the summer evenings. The location was good for exploring Nottingham and the surrounding area. We really appreciated the little touches - a little jug of milk on arrival, tea and coffee available to use, washing up supplies, tea towel, hand soap, shampoo and shower gel and bath towels. We also received a warm welcome from the owners and also a nice goodbye. We didn’t need anything during our stay but felt if we had needed anything the owners would be in hand. We would definitely stay again!

Pond-view shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything. Shepherd's huts are amazing, so comfy and cosy. Very well equipped and the log burner was the icing on the cake. Loved how quiet it was and watching the Moor hen's in the garden. Green dragon pub in the village highly recommended too, proper pub! Liked Oxton Hill Hideaway that much we've already booked again.

Disliked: Nothing.
