General

  • Peaceful farm site on the banks of the River Meden
  • Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park within 20 minutes' drive
  • Fishing, farm tours and animal encounters available on site

Haughton Park House Farm is a family-run dairy farm in north Nottinghamshire, with access to fishing and canoeing on the River Meden on site.

There are some splendid rural views from this peaceful site, and more to be had out in the surrounding area – which you can explore easily on walking routes (of varying difficulties) that leave from directly outside the farm. A most rewarding walk leads to the local farm shop, a mile away, where you can pick up all the bits you need for a barbecue back at your pitch. A pick-your-own farm is also about a mile away for fresh soft fruit to follow your dinner (in season).

Breakfast is a little closer to hand: purchase fresh chicken, duck and goose eggs from the farm’s honesty box and get cooking.

Fancy more of a taste of farm life? Book in for activities on site: kids’ crafts, animal feeding sessions, farm tours and animal encounters are all on the menu, and you can also book slots to visit and feed the herd of reindeer. When you’re not hanging out with the animals, younger kids can be kept amused at the play area.

This may be a wholly rural spot but it’s also one that’s very well connected: the farm is easily accessed from the A614 and A1 just between Sheffield and Nottingham, and therefore possibly handy as a stopover point on longer journeys. That location also means plenty of day trips are nearby, including outings to the likes of Chatsworth, Sherwood Forest and Creswell Crags.

Lovely maintained field, amazing shower block, friendly staff, quiet but easy to find location.

    Disliked:

The only downside was there are a lot of nettles on the field, not sure how this can be overcome so no grumbles from us.

Basic camping in a quiet remote spot. Plenty of room for the kids to run around in a safe area in an enclosed field with the option to close and open the gate. The owners welcomed us 10 mins after arriving and were extremely friendly. Great communication between us before arrival too.

We really liked our camping experience at Haughton farm, very quiet and lots of space for the children to play, it was dog friendly and had the river running throu which was quite tranquil, the showers were kept fresh and clean every day and all the staff were very friendly and polite, they also offer farm tours for the children at a low cost of £5 per child which was very educating and worth every penny, the children really loved it 👍🏻

The option to choose where abouts we pitched up,...the owner was lovely and made sure we were settled, she kept the porta loos clean (my husband said they were the cleanest porta loos he's ever seen) ha ha.
There is only one shower room which comfortably fits one whole family in, you have to walk up the farm track to get to it though and pay a deposit for a key, bit manic in a morning when you know people are waiting outside to get in when you're trying to get your family of 5 ready . But to be fair everyone was patient.
We liked that the children could explore the fields play in the stream and there are some beautiful walks to be done, the farm is very central to the shops and different places for days out etc, so you don't have to travel far for a but of fun.
Our children especially loved the fact they could help out on the farm for £5pp they got to feed and interact with the animals and get a feel of what farming is like.
    Torches are a must!!

    Disliked:

The portaloos and only being one shower available....but that's it! Oh and the fact that pitch up has given misleading information about a farm shop and a park for the children...there isn't one on site.
