  • Peaceful farm site on the banks of the River Meden
  • Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park within 20 minutes' drive
  • Fishing available on site
Haughton Park House Farm is a family-run farm in north Nottinghamshire, with access to fishing and canoeing on the River Meden on site (bring your own canoe and rods) There are some splendid rural views from this peaceful site, and more to be had out in the surrounding area – which you can explore easily on walking routes (of varying difficulties) that leave from directly outside the farm. Two local farm shops and supermarkets are a short drive away and a pick-your-own farm is also about a mile away to purchase fresh, soft fruit to follow your dinner (when in season). This may be a wholly rural spot but it’s also one that’s very well connected: the farm is easily accessed from the A614 and A1 just between Sheffield and Nottingham, and therefore possibly handy as a stopover point on longer journeys. That location also means plenty of day trips are nearby, including outings to the likes of Chatsworth, Sherwood Forest and Creswell Crags.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Location

Disliked: I feel £20 was a bit excessive considering it was literally just a field with a portaloo and a tap next to it.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Proximity to Walseby forest and Sherwood forest
Beautiful fields surrounding
Incredible farm tour/feeding experience with Jennie the owner
Farm Animals and wild animals
Plenty of lovely local walks available

Disliked: It literally is a field with a portaloo and a tap so bugs and nettles part of the package too.
Different to expectations from photos of a busy campsite as we had it all to ourselves.
Access to the stream/river limited and overgrown with a 4 ft drop so felt unable to paddle board as hoped.
Make sure you check what evening entertainment is on at Walseby woods if you want a good night’s sleep (loud music until 10.30pm)

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We loved the peace and quiet of a simple place to camp. Being next to the iver was brilliant as kids all got to play in it and have fun. The farm tour was absolutely fantastic, learning all about the different animals and farm life. We really enjoyed our stay

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Basic camping in a quiet remote spot. Plenty of room for the kids to run around in a safe area in an enclosed field with the option to close and open the gate. The owners welcomed us 10 mins after arriving and were extremely friendly. Great communication between us before arrival too.

Disliked: Plenty of stinging nettles!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Lovely maintained field, amazing shower block, friendly staff, quiet but easy to find location.

Disliked: The only downside was there are a lot of nettles on the field, not sure how this can be overcome so no grumbles from us.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We really liked our camping experience at Haughton farm, very quiet and lots of space for the children to play, it was dog friendly and had the river running throu which was quite tranquil, the showers were kept fresh and clean every day and all the staff were very friendly and polite, they also offer farm tours for the children at a low cost of £5 per child which was very educating and worth every penny, the children really loved it 👍🏻
