Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Wide open spaces. Lovely quiet location. Martin very helpful. We also had lovely neighbours

Disliked Toilets and showers would benefit from update
Doesn't seem very organised. Literally pull in, pitch up then tell the office where you are. However not given code to enter site so had to park up outside, walk to office in middle of field to get code. Then not given code to leave, had to disturb Martin in his caravan. No clear demarcation of pitches, power points seem randomly placed.

Facilities were super clean. Kitchen had free coffee toast.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Leaving the site, didn't even stay drove in then drove out

Disliked Large groups of 10+ all very loud excessively drinking, dogs loose around the site, Owner/Manager Martin's dog loose at entrance jumped at the van and started barking. Facilities look more at home in a concentration camp than an expensive campsite.

quiet place, plenty of room for a tent. close to Sherwood Forest,…

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked Martin and his friendly but excitable sheep dog showed us around and explained everything we chose the middle field for our camper without EHU, there was plenty of space in the field and it was nice and flat. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty of hot water, there was a small kitchen in the pot washing room where you could use a kettle and microwave and a fridge full of free bottled water, we did not use but appreciate it being offered.

Disliked The hedges to the entrance to the 3rd field could be doing with a trim to protect vehicles driving though - very minor and easily fixed

Local attractions

A major hub since the days of Robin and his Merry Men, Nottingham (half an hour by car) still draws the crowds. Tour the castle and the caves, take a glass of ale in Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem (one of many contenders for the oldest pub in England crown), skate on ice at Motorpoint Arena and see how far law and order’s come since the Sheriff’s time in the National Justice Museum. Sherwood Forest, three quarters of an hour away, harbours no brigands these days; within the nature reserve, country park and Sherwood Pines Forest Park you will find 450 acres of wildlife with among ancient oak trees and a wealth of biking and walking trails taking you through them. Traverse the tree-tops on ropes and wires at Go Ape, or let the kids loose on Robin Hood’s Hideout, an acclaimed natural play area; on your way back, call in at Ferry Farm Country Park a quarter of an hour from the site, to pet the pigs, feed the lambs, zoom about on go-karts and get adventurous on the adventure playground. If the ancient forest’s fired you up about history, make for Newark (25 minutes) with its castle, National Civil War Centre and Air Museum. Or to feel as if you stepped back in time, take the 45-minute trip to Wollaton Hall, where herds of red and fallow deer roam round a lake in the grounds of a stately Elizabethan mansion.
