  • Family-friendly site five minutes' walk from the pub in Silverstone
  • Within a half-hour drive of Althorp, Stowe and Bletchley Park
  • Breakfast, dinner and drinks on site for race weekends
It’s not all about the motor racing at Silverstone Farm Campsite – but this friendly site on the edge of the village is particularly fab on a race weekend. It’s a mile or so from farm to circuit, so while others are queuing to get out of the car park post-race, farm guests can make a quick getaway, ambling back to the site to gather in the entertainment marquee for a debrief over drinks and dinner (available on race weekends only, as are breakfast rolls to kick off the day). Whether you’re staying for the races or just a bit of a break, there’s a family-friendly vibe on site, with plenty of space to run around, the odd informal game of footie kicking off and a general request to keep the hubbub down after 11pm to help the tiddlers get some kip. The duck pond, backdrop of the Bucknell Woods and five-minute trot to the local pub and village shop all add to the rural ambience. A permanent toilet block houses private hot showers, accessible facilities and a dressing area with hairdryer, lights and a mirror for beautifying that barnet. Extra facilities are brought in for race weekends, with extra fields opened up too to ensure plenty of wiggle room for all guests.

Local attractions

If you’re not into motorsport, or want to extend your rural break, there’s plenty to fill a few days with around these parts. Whittlebury Hall is a few minutes’ drive away for rounds of golf and spa days, and you can trek through country lanes in the company of friendly llamas 15 minutes’ drive away. Guests with a penchant for a country estate or two are well served, too – you’re within a half-hour drive of Stowe, Canons Ashby and Althorp (ancestral home and resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales, and home to a memorial exhibition). Bletchley Park, codebreaking HQ in World War II, is also about half an hour away. See the scenic surrounds on a canal boat trip from Stoke Bruerne, 15 minutes away by car, or make the 45-minute journey to Oxford to view the historic colleges on a walking tour, a boat trip or while mastering the tricky technique of punting.
