  • Woodland campsite on a private estate at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire
  • Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre 10 minutes’ drive
  • Spacious pitches and modern facilities; three fishing lakes on site
Time for a hideaway holiday on a Lincolnshire estate? With spacious level pitches and sparkling modern amenities, Woodhall Country Park sits within 2,000 acres of lush wooded parkland on the outskirts of the popular village of Woodhall Spa, and offers peace and quiet in bundles. Tip-top facilities include pristine shower blocks with designated family rooms, and a small licensed store at reception, where you can also gather tourist information, buy bottled gas and purchase tokens for the washing machine and dryer. And the good news just keeps on coming. The anglers in your party will be pleased to hear that there are three well-stocked fishing lakes at their exclusive disposal for a small fee, while you can stretch your legs – and those of any accompanying furry pals – on quiet rural walks straight from the spacious hardstanding pitches. Kids are catered for with a dedicated play area for ball games as well as swings, slides and climbing frames. Keen alfresco chefs can use the shared food prep room with sinks, worktops, a kettle, fridge and freezer. Handily there are recycling points as well as two electric vehicle charging points, and you’ll rest easy safe in the knowledge that there is a secure barrier across the campsite entrance at all times.

Liked Location.

Disliked Hardstanding/grass pitch. The grass was at the back of our van and we would have preferred it at the side.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Fantastic location, very picturesque and quiet. Facilities were ample and staff were very helpful around the site and friendly. Easy to get to nearby jubilee park, petwood and kinema by foot. We watched the eclipse on the field next to the yellow bus which was a nice experience. Great milkshakes. And a basic selection of essentials in reception.

Disliked The shower block could do with a bit of an overhaul, very hot water which was too much for our little girl. Also they are on a push button which lasts about 2 seconds between presses. I think they would be better if they were thermostatic showers to be able to adjust the temperature. The shower block itself is just generally a bit dated, silicone coming away from the wall and shower gel baskets easily fall off if knocked etc. We unfortunately had a power cut too whilst on site, which left a total blackout with no back up lights. Again, some emergency solar lighting or a backup around site would be helpful for people trying to navigate their way around in the unfortunate event of this happening again.
The pitch itself was really big, but not very private. But all in all, a good site with investment and development currently taking place from what we could see.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The layout of the site, the pitch we had, the bar and school bus snack bar…
We also liked the walk into Woodhall Spa, the town itself and loved the open air pool in Jubilee park

Disliked I think the only complaint any of us made during our stay was that the hand dryers in the ladies weren’t great! Not much to complain about is it?

Local attractions

Woodhall Spa (15 minutes’ walk) is well worthy of your attention; once a renowned Victorian spa resort, today it has cute-as-a-picture cafés, artisan stores selling local produce and two challenging golf courses. Occupying a former sports hall, The Kinema In The Woods shows classic and blockbuster films to the musical accompaniment of an original John Compton organ. Anyone with an interest in Lincolnshire’s aviation heritage should head to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre (10 minutes’ drive) for guided tours around hangars full of military aircraft, or give thanks to war heroes before the memorial at the International Bomber Command Centre (half an hour). Wind up your day with a relaxing pint or two at the Dambusters Inn at Scampton (40 minutes), which is packed with World War II memorabilia. Outdoorsy types pay attention now, as Woodhall Country Park is also gateway to hikes and cycle rides in the undulating Lincolnshire Wolds (20 minutes). And should you be chomping at the bit to get to the seaside, the traditional resorts of Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes are all less than 50 minutes’ drive away.
