Country Meadow Caravan Park: Space around the pitches

General

  • Dog-friendly site three miles from Huttoft beach
  • Bus service right outside to the Lincolnshire seaside towns
  • Play area, well-maintained grounds and spotless amenities

A bonzer beach awaits within easy driving distance of Country Meadow Caravan Park, near Sutton on Sea – and if you’ve brought the pooch with you, they’ll be as happy on this hol as, well… a dog with a bone.

Dog-friendly Huttoft beach (aka Moggs Eye), under three miles away, has miles of sand on which your dog can happily go quite bonkers, while the humans amuse themselves in or near the water: this award-winning sandy stretch is a safe surfing and sailing spot and a good catch for sea anglers. It’s usually pretty quiet too – a nifty little factoid to remember when the Lincolnshire seaside bustles in the summer months.

Quiet family-run Country Meadow Caravan Park is also dog-friendly: canines might also approve of the dog walk nearby, the frequent visits of the ice-cream van and the takeaway outlets that deliver direct to the site…

For humans, Country Meadow has level grass pitches among meticulously-maintained grounds; amenities (toilet block, showers, laundry and disabled toilet) are kept spotlessly shipshape. Kids are catered for with a play area and all is kept safe and secure on site with the use of barrier access.

A bus to the seaside seems like a jolly good idea too, especially if it goes right past the site: catch the bus outside Country Meadow to Sutton on Sea and from there to Mablethorpe, Skegness, Ingoldmells and inland to Louth and the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The site is two miles from Sutton on Sea's town centre for local shops, pubs and seaside chippies.

The shower/toilet block was more than adequate as was the wash room. Nice sized pitches, not a noisy site at all. We look forward to many more visits to this lovely place

Price for visitors entry. Small kids area . Owner in ladies toilet too early. Especially round the time people are showering.

From the manager...

In order to keep our pitch prices down we have to charge for extras such as visitors. Also to be fare to other customers that do not have any extras why should they pay for others to have extra persons and visitors. It is clearly stated on the pricing list. Cleaning and checking the toilets is an essential part of the job. Health and hygiene requires us to check toilets regularly and we close them for a full cleaning after the departure time of 11:00am. This should be of plenty of time to have had a shower before cleaning commences. As for the kids play area, we do intend to add more equipment over time, but as a small site we have a tight budget and things have to wait their turn. As this is your first visit to the site you would not understand and appreciate how we are gradually improving the site, sorry but it takes time.

Perfect site, spotlessly clean, good facilities. Well maintained by the owners. Close to Farmer Browns ice cream who do an excellent all day breakfast and for a few pints we would recommend the Axe and Cleaver where a warm friendly welcome is guaranteed...but closed on Sunday nights. Excellent dog walking areas adjacent to the site.

    Small pitches
Guy who runs it was so rude
    Had to pay for shower
    Far too many rules
Felt like you were being watched

From the manager...

Well what did you expect. You clearly didn't read the terms & cons. Arrived early with a 7.5tonne lorry motorhome 9meters long & 4meters high and stuck out like a saw thumb. The pitch you were on is 9meters x10meters wide how much bigger did you think you would get. Of course you had to pay for the showers, if you had read the write up & pricing you would have known that, Anyway you claim to have all that in your lorry so if 50p was a problem in a £90,000 motorhome then we do feel sorry for you. As for being rude? what about your ignorance of not informing us of what you were actually coming with. You had spoken to us on the phone prior to your visit but did not inform us of what you intended to arrive with, just a 30ft motorhome you told us. As for being watched, it was hard to miss a vehicle of that size in the middle of a small camp site. As for your poor result for accommodation you brought your own accommodation with you. Child friendliness, kicking foot balls at fences and hedging even after being ask not to is not accepted. If your sons had broken one of the electric boxes would you have paid the £200 required to replace it.
Glad you do not intend to return.

Local attractions

Country Meadow Caravan Park is within easy driving distance from the main Lincolnshire seaside towns (Skegness, Ingoldmells and Mablethorpe). Mablethorpe is the smallest of the three but still has days’ worth of seaside fare to dip into, such as its award-winning miles of sandy beach and sand train, a funfair and donkey rides (to see more donkeys, Huttoft is home to the Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary).

From the beach, shuffle over the dunes to get to the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary or head to more seals at Natureland in Skegness – here there be penguins and tarantulas and many more creatures alongside the seals. For their wilder cousins, aim for Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, 10 minutes’ drive south. Like a lot of the Lincolnshire coast, birds are abundant here: use the reserve’s network of paths around the dunes, marshes and lagoons to see wading birds and wildfowl.

And then to Ingoldmells, home of theme park Fantasy Island and Europe’s longest looping rollercoaster… It’s also the home of a mammoth seven-day indoor market to buy the best bargains; if the dog gets bored, mollify him/her with a leg stretch along Ingoldmells beach, also dog-friendly.
