General

  • New in 2016
  • In a secluded rural location on an 140-acre farm
  • On-site fishing lake stocked with specimen bream, carp, rudd and more

Park yourself at this smashing site for dreamy days deep in Lincolnshire countryside, easy angling on site and proximity to seaside days and wide-ranging strays: family-run Windfarm Park is only four miles west of Skegness and a ten-minute drive from the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

But you might decide to stick around on site when you see what's on offer right at your secluded countryside base. Windfarm Park's fishing lake is a popular pull for anglers of all ages, where tiddlers can land small fish easily and where the more experienced can set themselves the challenge of catching specimen bream, carp, barbel, chubb, tench, roach and rudd among the site lake's many islands and varied features (small extra charge applies for fishing). Many walks are all around too, including several miles of private strolls around the farm and among the many species of local wildlife.

Newly opened in 2016, Windfarm Park is a 140-acre farm in a deeply rural and secluded setting, set up for back to basics stays with fishing thrown in. It's a pet-friendly, family-friendly and warmly welcoming site, a short distance from the pubs, restaurants, takeaways and small supermarkets of the villages of Burgh Le Marsh, Wainfleet and Croft. The owners generate their own electricity via a solar farm on site.

The farm also has a playground and plenty of room for kids to run around. The heated, well-sized and excellently-kept facilities block has modern free hot showers and sockets for hairdryers; there's also a family room that's suitable for guests with disabilities.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Loved that the shower block was clean and modern. The kids play area was great too. Our site was quite and in a good position.

    Disliked:

That we couldn't see the kids in the play area. We have a little 3yo and I was always worried if he was ok.

The tent pitches were large giving plenty of space for our tent, car and dog.
The shower and toilet block was modern, clean and spacious.
Plenty of places to walk the dog.
    Helpful and welcoming owners.
Play area close by which gave a focal meeting point for the children on the campsite to go and play, and keep the noise in one place!

    Disliked:

The site was great it would just be useful for people to not allow their children to run around the tents at 1am making lots of noise (luckily this mainly disturbed us and not our young children).

Surrounding area was lovely and the site itself is in a great location, a small 10 minute drive will take you right into the middle of Skeg while the site itself is firmly in the country with nice walks around the farm.

    Toilet block was exceptional.

    Disliked:

Only criticism would be that some clearer signage would be good though the postcode takes you to the farm.

Absolutely loved it here, lots of space, great facilities block, playground for the kids and in a lovely village only 10 mins from Skegness. The owner was very friendly and accommodating and we liked hearing about the transformation of the site from past to future plans.
We like it so much we have already booked up for next month with more family members to test out the fishing lake.
    Keep up the good work!

Location of the campsite is only 10 minutes from the centre of Skegness so makes an ideal base to explore. There are electric and non electric pitches and they seem to be fairly level. There is also a small play frame for the kids, which served as a meeting place for the children to play and meet. The toilet block looks fairly new and was very clean. Showers were nice and warm and you even have space to dry yourself and keep clothes away from the shower head. We really enjoyed the stay (even if it was only for 1 night) and the price we paid was vet reasonable. I would happily stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending this site.

    Disliked:

No real issue, the drive into the camp site can be quite long. But it's only a couple of minutes drive so I am being a bit picky.

Local attractions

Have your hol as active or relaxed as you want with a Windfarm Park base: there's loads to do in Lincolnshire whatever your holiday tastes.

Staying on site, several miles of secluded farm walks are easily accessible, passing loads of local wildlife: as well as the more common sightings you may be able to spy barn owls, woodpeckers, marsh harriers, white egrets, kingfishers, muntjac and roe deer. (Have a look at the site pics to see some strolling scenery.)

Bring your bikes along if you can, as the farm is at the foot of the Wolds, land so flat that you could pedal along it all day. Plenty of quiet back lanes are around to explore, so bring along binoculars too as some of the loudest noises here come from birds. Areas of wetland habitat to encourage wading birds and wildfowl have been set up by neighbouring farmers.

For more wildlife watching, the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's visitor centre is at Gibraltar Point just south of Skegness, with other reserves nearby at Snipe Dales and Freiston Foreshore. The Trust runs many educational events during the summer, many aimed at children.

Seaside? The lively entertainment of Skegness and Ingoldmells are nearby, for days at Fantasy Island, the Embassy Theatre, Skegness pier, Skegness Aquarium, several golf courses, a swimming pool and fitness centre, Natureland, skate park and more. Quiet beaches (sometimes deserted) can be found ten minutes south of Skegness at Gibraltar Point or further up the coast beyond Ingoldmells.

For towns, Horncastle with its many antique shops is a 20-minute drive away (for a real antique hunt, go a little further afield to Hemswell Antique Centre north of Lincoln), and the farm's nearest large town Boston is about 20 miles south with river cruises on the Wash and inland trips on the Witham via the Boston Belle.

Ancient Lincoln, its cathedral, its Collection Museum and its castle and events all lie about 50 minutes west for a day trip – if you’re feeling energetic, tackle the aptly named Steep Hill, from the town centre up towards the cathedral.

Also recommended by the Windfarm Park owners is the Battle of Britain memorial flight, based at RAF Coningsby.
