General

  • Peaceful and family-run in 14 acres of scenic Lincolnshire countryside
  • Immaculately-maintained grounds
  • Two well-established fishing lakes, with an abundance of fish

Serious seekers of serenity, get sorted at Sycamore Farm Park. This is a properly peaceful place, deep in the lovely Lincolnshire countryside (but only four miles from Skegness for those who also seek seaside).

Even looking at the site pics is making we Pitchup.com lot feel rightly relaxed... Sycamore Farm is on 14 acres of grounds, immaculately maintained by the professional team, and has two sincerely scenic fishing lakes, brimming with carp, roach, rudd and tench for you to try your hand landing. (Seriously, have a look at the site pics.)

The kids have a play area to get busy at, and the essentials are covered with the (also immaculate) amenities: a loo and shower block close to the camping field with floor to ceiling tiles and underfloor heating; disabled facilities, washing-up area, drying room and launderette. The shop on site has a whopping range of fishing kit and dynamite baits, as well as groceries, cleaning products and household essentials.

Need some help on site? Ask the on-site maintenance team or any other member of staff: the Sycamore Farm Park team members have made it their mission to make sure that guests feel welcome and have a resolutely relaxing time – that sounds seriously serene to us as well.

Seemed like a lovely community of regular owners which is nice but can make you feel like a left out intruder on the hard standing pitches near the office. Those pitches are a 2 minute walk from the shower block which I was quite glad of as there was a vomit inspiring stench all around that area. Just so you know you have to pay 50p a shower that it meant to last 7 minutes, please have extra as it doesn't happen 50% of the time. Those are just the few things that let it down.

The whole site is fabulous, probably the cleanest I've ever stayed at. Very well kept and looked after. Clean, hot showers although would have liked longer than 7 minutes at a time. Friendly staff

    Disliked:

The amount of kids on the pitch opposite kicking a football against our car and tent continuously until way after dark which spoilt our break. Would like to see a "No Ball Game" policy to respect other guests.
    Wifi connection not great.

Local attractions

This is a lovely part of green and pleasant England, with splendid strolls and hikes in the surrounding countryside, and many more along the gorgeous Lincolnshire coastline a few miles away.

The sand dunes and salt marsh of the Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve are about five and a half miles away from Sycamore Farm Park, from the south of Skegness to the mouth of The Wash. This is a first-rate reserve for birdwatching and wildlife walks; look out for terns, plovers and oystercatchers along its trails and in the bird observatory.

Sycamore Farm Park is also four miles away from Lincolnshire's main seaside towns of Skegness and Ingoldmells, both with plenty to do after a morning spent strolling on the sands.

At Skegness, sightseers and activity seekers can see the seals and other inhabitants at Natureland Seal Sanctuary, bob about on the boating lake, whirl around Skegness Pleasure Beach or just wander around town to source some souvenirs. The Embassy Theatre on Grand Parade puts on regular shows, concerts, pantos and comedy nights alongside one-off events like circus workshops and roller disco.

At Ingoldmells, make theme park Fantasy Island your first stop for a right hair-raising time – stagger off to the huge indoor market afterwards to calm down, or have a tipple at one of the town's many pubs.

Must see

  • Sandringham (26.0 miles)
  • Holkham Hall (26.9 miles)
  • Houghton Hall (28.8 miles)

National Trust

  • Gunby Hall (3.2 miles)
  • Gunby Hall Estate: Monksthorpe Chapel (4.6 miles)
