Rectory Farm: More than 25 varieties of daffodil on site

General

  • Peaceful working farm site surrounded by Lincolnshire grazing fields
  • Within easy reach of Newark, Lincoln, Grantham and Nottingham
  • Option of ordering full English or continental breakfasts

Huge spacious pitches and open fields await at this back to basics site in rural Lincolnshire, in a handsomely historic location between ancient Lincoln and the old market towns of Sleaford, Newark and Grantham, and within easy reach of the lights and sights of Nottingham.

Adjoined to a working farm, this site is in a peaceful spot and secluded setting, surrounded by countryside a short distance from the River Witham. Rectory Farm is shaded by mature trees and has spacious grassy pitches among a field surrounded by hawthorn hedges. Guests are welcome to choose a pitch under the shade of mature trees or out in the open.

The site owners give you the option of ordering full English or continental breakfasts, so no need for camping stove faff in the morning if you'd rather get up and out for your days of sightseeing. On the amenities front, toilets, showers and a washing-up area are all available for guests' use.

As this site is on a working farm, there'll often be tractors and trailers trundling up and down the farm track during harvest time in August and September until around 9pm.

Very friendly welcome from the owners! Lovely quiet spot to get away from it all and just chill. The kids loved the pigs! It is a farm and so we were happy with the occasional farm noises. Its kinda what we came to escape from the city for! Everything nice, clean and simple, just the way I like it. Only designed for a few campers hence its very unique, cosy and tranquil nature. Highly recommend.

    Disliked:

The large and peaceful pitch, super breakfast served on a sunny morning on the patio, no dogs policy. The owner(s) have an excellent and unique “niche” at Rectory Farm, we appreciated the welcome and friendliness very much. For the Suggestion Box: it would be absolutely great if there were two toilet/shower blocks (M & F) rather than one and the washing up area to be completely separate from toilet/shower area. We would book again.

    Disliked:

No facility to rinse the cassette at disposal point. Toilet/Shower/Washing up area.

From the manager...

It has been suggested before that there is a preference for his & her facilities but in my defence this is a small camp site and sometimes I only have two of three campers but long term I will take on board your suggestion and I do appreciate that people perhaps prefer his / her facilities. Again I do have a hose pipe at the end of the yard and a chemical disposal point but I will endeavour to put in place a hose pipe to wash out 'cassettes'. kind regards Clare

    The site itself was good.
The good point is it was close to Newark and Lincoln.

    Disliked:

The toilets could do with a deep clean and painting. The hands soap bottle was very dirty.
I was hooked up to house electric, which if it was raining it would’ve had caused a dangerous problem.
The Elsan didn’t have anywhere to rinse out my cassette.
It was noisy and smelly but I expected that as it was a farm.

From the manager...

I am sorry you felt that the toilets were not clean enough however I have taken on board your comments and have started redecorating the block. On the days you were here it did unfortunately clash with mucking out the pig yards which involves loading up the manure in a trailer and then taking to a storage point in one of the fields. I do have a hose at the other end of the yard which I did tell you about to rinse out your cassette. I can only apologise for the soap bottle being dirty it has been replaced.
