  • Peaceful working farm site surrounded by Lincolnshire grazing fields
  • Within easy reach of Newark, Lincoln, Grantham and Nottingham
  • Option of ordering full English or continental breakfasts
Huge spacious pitches and open fields await at this back to basics site in rural Lincolnshire, in a handsomely historic location between ancient Lincoln and the old market towns of Sleaford, Newark and Grantham, and within easy reach of the lights and sights of Nottingham. Adjoined to a working farm, this site is in a peaceful spot and secluded setting, surrounded by countryside a short distance from the River Witham. Rectory Farm is shaded by mature trees and has spacious grassy pitches among a field surrounded by hawthorn hedges. Guests are welcome to choose a pitch under the shade of mature trees or out in the open. The site owners give you the option of ordering full English or continental breakfasts, so no need for camping stove faff in the morning if you'd rather get up and out for your days of sightseeing. On the amenities front, toilets, showers and a washing-up area are all available for guests' use. As this site is on a working farm, there'll often be tractors and trailers trundling up and down the farm track during harvest time in August and September until around 9pm.

Crabapple unpowered grass site

Liked A really nice welcome from the owner with clear info on where to pitch and the facilities available. The hot water was hot and the tap in the farm yard filled up our water bottles quick. The field was really flat, the ground comfortable and easy to pitch on and it wasn't too far a walk to the facilities from our tent.

Disliked There was a few flies about but it's a working farm so they were expected and easily coped with.

Crabapple unpowered grass site

Liked Lovely quiet site set on a working farm, handily located just a couple of miles from Newark Showground in rural Lincolnshire. Campervan pitches are in a mown grass field with plenty of trees if you prefer a shady spot and are pretty level. Basic but adequate facilities (washup area with sink & hot water/single toilet/single shower) located in an outbuilding adjacent to the farmhouse, clean and accessible 24 hours. Owners very friendly and welcoming.

Disliked Not immediately obvious where the campervan pitches are located and owners weren't present on arrival. Easily resolved with a phone call though.

Liked We just love this place, it’s such a relaxing beautiful camp site. I love the fruit trees in the field, the whole place is kept beautiful. The owners are amazing and have time for you and make your stay special
The breakfast is out of this world yet so reasonably priced! We are already thinking about when to fit in our next stay here.
Thank you for having us :)

Powered grass and earth caravan site

Liked Nice quiet area on a farm , breakfast was big and enjoyable, lots of wildlife, blue tits in a nest box right by van windows, not at all bothered by our presence
Good for cycling

Disliked There’s only one toilet and shower and on busy weekends you’re timing is everything, certainly didn’t detract from stay, a dark spot by entrance to yard could do with a solar light on conservatory wall .
No public transport links,

Local attractions

Nearby are the British Horological Institute at Upton, with its huge collection of clocks, watches and other timepieces, and Newark Showground, where you can pick up bargainous bits at one of its regular antique fairs. Plenty of history is also over at Lincoln half an hour's drive away – must-sees while you're there include the castle and cathedral, and nearby the National Trust properties of Grantham House and Tattershall Castle are both worthy of a half-day trip. Newark, famed for its starring role in the English Civil War, is another tiptop spot: wander the exhibits of the National Civil War Centre and take the Nottinghamshire Civil War Trail to key locations around the town and several of Nottinghamshire's other historic hotspots. Newark also has a weekly market and regular medieval jousting weekends.
