  • Small Lincolnshire site next to a working farm with horses and sheep
  • A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; about one hour to the North Sea coast
  • Five minutes’ walk to a golf course; half an hour’s walk to the pub
Small in size but offering a big welcome, Branston Moor Campsite is a peaceful spot about seven miles south east of Lincoln (15 minutes’ drive). Close to the village of Branston (five minutes), where there are pub and supermarket amenities, this rural spot sits next to the owners’ working farm, so you may catch sight of horses and sheep while you’re out and about around the pitches. In addition to well-maintained and level grounds, Branston Moor has access to simple facilities such as a small toilet block with flushing toilets, showers and a washing-up shack with cold taps and a small fridge. Guests here are also welcome to build a campfire – as long as the weather conditions mean it’s safe to do so. If you like to play golf, the nearest course is just up the road (about five minutes away on foot); if that’s not your thing, there are lots of cycling and walking trails in the local area too, not to mention a pub in nearby Potterhanworth (about half an hour’s walk away). While many guests will want to stick close to base and focus on exploring Lincoln or the Lincolnshire Wolds, it’s pretty easy to get out to the coast too, since seaside spots like Mablethorpe or Donna Nook can be reached in about an hour by car.

Upcycled microlodge

Liked Great location for NCN cycle route, quiet and chilled with excellent facilities for the price..we stayed in the microlodge with hot plate and kettle, outdoor table and recliners under cover (good for bike storage) for price of tent on most UK sites. Best nights sleep of trip so far. Showers, toilet and washing up facilities separate. Hosts Angela and Roy were lovely.

Disliked Getting there was a bit of a challenge as there is more than one Moor Lane in area and reception location was not clear (backdoor of farm to right) Could benefit from more hooks and shelves for cyclists gear. :)

From the manager: We are very sorry you didn't like our campsite. We will make our telephone numbers more prominent on arrival for future campers. Most people give us an indication of when they are likely to arrive. We try to meet everyone on arrival and welcome personally to our rustic site. At £17 a night we feel we offer good value.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Very basic but mostly functional facilities, ideal in warm weather. Very friendly and helpful site owner. Everything was clean and well kept.

Disliked No dedicated area for washing or cleaning teeth. Sink not draining in hut next to showers

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we are sorry the sink wasn't draining but has been attended and is working properly again.
We also have a summerhouse for gentle activities and games and for shelter with an electric supply.to be able to make tea and toast.

Liked Roy is a lovely host and let me pitch up before the scheduled time. Lovely, peaceful setting with beautiful views of open fields and starry skies. The site is non commercial and feels intimate. It is a few miles from local villages. Showers were great and liked the fact you have communal microwave and kettle. Very useful. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for peace ...but close to Lincoln

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Quiet site
Summer house with games for the kids
Relaxed pitch lay out
Great setting with views over fields

Disliked We had a lot of ants (might be the time of year)
No hooks or proper mirrors in the toilets

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your good review. We will definitely look into the mirror situation, sadly last year we had some removed and not brought back, we agree bigger ones should be available. We are very sorry about the flying ant situation , I believe it was the night they all hatched in our area. I am trying to plant more herbs as a natural deterrent I hope it didn't spoil your stay too much.

Local attractions

Consecrated at the end of the 11th century, the cathedral in Lincoln has a spectacular vaulted interior and stained-glass windows, while Lincoln Castle displays one of only four existing copies of the original Magna Carta. On the outskirts of the city, Boultham Mere Nature Reserve is an area of wetlands inhabited by wintering birds. National Trust - Tattershall Castle (half an hour’s drive) is an imposing medieval fortress built in red brick. Its Great Tower is adorned with huge Flemish tapestries, ornate windows and oversized fireplaces. It is possible to walk along the battlements for far-reaching views of the Lincolnshire Fens. A day at the seaside is always a good idea, so head to the North Sea coast to places such as Mablethorpe (one hour), with a vast sandy beach popular with watersports enthusiasts, and the seafront Queen’s Park, featuring a paddling pool, boating lake and miniature golf. Donna Nook (one hour) is a breeding ground for grey seals.
