Enclosed electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nice place to stay, we had a pitch that was fenced in which was great for our dog to have a stroll unsupervised. The facilities were fine. It was peaceful and the alpacas were adorable to observe.

Disliked Showers were charged for, only one shower for the whole site and the toilet/shower area was quite cold.

From the manager: Thankyou
We do try and keep the facilities warm they are heated, but some campers have an aversion to closing doors, we cannot monitor constantly other than repeatedly shutting them when we see them left open, along with some of our more considerate guests.
We don't apologise or make a secret of charging for showers (plural there is a shower in both the mens and the ladies facilities) as they are hot electric showers not push button with poor pressure, also the same reason we don't have more than 2 on our small site. Quality over quantity.
Obviously as you were a solo traveller you didnt see the mens facilities but a bit surprised you presumed they didn't have a shower?

Liked We had the enclosed pitch which was perfect with having our dog with us . We visited the bar on site and it was a very friendly place . The owners were very friendly . You had to pay a £1 for the shower , which I dont mind better then the push button type . You pay extra for for electric after a certain amount but when we left we were well under . Overall a nice little site . But be aware there is only 1 shower in each of the male and female wash rooms so if it's busy you may after wait your turn . Would definitely visit again

Enclosed electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Unbeknown to me I had booked the enclosed pitch where your dogs can run free. Brilliant!!!! So easy to open the door to let them out in the morning. Not seen that before and will look out for it again.

Disliked Nothing about the site.
Road in village was abit tight.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your review.
Just to let folk know they don't need to drive through the village there is a small bypass that brings you in at the top of the village. So you dont need give way at parked cars on the village main road.

Excellent.

What customers say

This adult-only, dog-friendly campsite is praised for its exceptional cleanliness, well-maintained pitches, and friendly, accommodating owners, Julie and Gary. Guests highlight the Alpaca Arms pub as a great addition with a lively atmosphere, and the opportunity to feed the alpacas is a particular joy. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are consistently described as spotless. The quiet, peaceful setting and spacious pitches contribute to a relaxing experience. Minor points mentioned include the £1 coin requirement for showers and occasional noise from the surrounding area.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Separate booths marked out between pitches is great. On site bar was a plus. Alpacas are great fun and right next to where you’re camping. Clean toilets while site is well kept. Ice cream and cafe open at advertised times. Pizza guy turned up which was a bonus too. Electric available if you wanted it. Covered area for dish washing. Small site so even when full it’s nice and spaced out and not too many people. Generally quiet and attracts nice folks who leave you alone or chat to you whatever you want. Owners were great, always about, but chatty and lovely.

Disliked Not much. Be aware the bar is close and there is music but it’s not late (shuts off around 10.30) and if you’re into it then it’s no bother either, just means evenings can be noisy if you’re hoping for quiet campsite all the time. Campsite quiet otherwise and if you’re into karaoke with the locals you won’t care!

Liked Clean peaceful site. Spacious pitches with privacy hedges. We enjoyed a 3 night stay and really enjoyed it . Julie and Gary the owners made us feel really welcome. Nice bar on site and bingo on the Monday was fun. Got to feed the alpacas too. First time visiting for us but I’m sure it won’t be the last

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Arrived to a very welcoming smile from the owner and was checked in and pitched within 30 mins. Lovely big pitch( hard standing) with hedge around us.
The Bar is a friendly well stocked place where we were made to feel very welcome. Geeza served a perfect Guinness ! And cocktails a plenty all reasonably priced.
The breakfast was superb, proper Lincolnshire bangers and delivered to the van for free🤣.
Mr Whippy home made ice creams on Saturday were very nice.
Showers/toilets were clean and a decent shower (£1) .
The Alpacas were in the field ready for feeding at 0930 on the dot, guests can feed them for a small fee.
Village shop and Chinese 5 min walk from site.
Lovely place and so relaxing , being Adult only was a preference for us and we won’t be strangers to the place.
Thank you For a great Weekend Marshland Alpaca Camp Site👌

Local attractions

Without any kids in tow, having hols full of grownup-sanctioned adventure is a cinch: head towards Grimsby (half an hour's drive) for tours and tastings at Rutlands Arms Old Mill Brewery and a stop at the taproom of the town’s newest brewery, Docks Beers. Otherwise, venture towards Hull (half an hour) for sedate turns around pleasant gardens, stately manors, museums galore and a must-do stop at The Deep aquarium. Anyone who’s after something more high-adrenaline and doesn’t mind a slightly longer drive should make the hour and 20-minute journey down the coast to Ingoldmells for a day at Fantasy Island theme park, or continue on to Skegness (an hour and 20 minutes) for stock car and banger racing at Skegness Raceway. For days in the great wide open, there’s plenty of choice: the Lincolnshire Wolds are about half an hour away for hiking, biking, riding and geocaching, or a coastal detour to Cleethorpes (35 minutes) and its seaside stretch is a top pick for beach and sandcastle days. A trip to Spurn National Nature Reserve (an hour and 15 minutes) shouldn’t be spurned either, even if it’s over an hour away – take a stroll along the sand island for slow-paced explores or sign up for a safari or wildlife-spotting boat trip to see it at its best.
