Leicestershire bound? Perhaps you’ll end up at Bradshaw Farm, a site on a working farm situated between the two rural villages of Stapleton and Dadlington, with Hinckley 10 minutes’ drive away. Pitches are on a nicely level field, and there are simple shared shower facilities. When you're in the mood for what's bound to be a relaxing soak, on-site hot tubs can be hired for an additional fee charged per hour. Every last weekend of the month (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and on bank holidays, the site has a range of wine, beer and spirits for guests to buy. There’s also well-stocked farm shop across the road, where you can pick up seasonal fruit, veg, fresher-than-fresh organic produce and home-grown plants; you can order a hearty cooked breakfast and tasty lunch there too. If you’re looking for a decent selection of pubs and restaurants to try, Hinckley (10 minutes’ drive) is the place to head for; you can top up on any other supplies from the supermarkets while you’re there. In general, this place is a fine choice if you want to get away for some R&R in the countryside.

Liked Fantastic campsite with a lovely couple who run it.
The camp looked lovely with all the night lights.
Shower, water, toilets, flat pitch.
Bell tent for £22.00 was a bargain!

Disliked Horrific, the house where you check in/farm shop was like something from a horror film. Rotting fruit and veg all over the floor. You can’t move for boxes of rotting food and the smell was off putting.

The teepee was dirty and smelled too my son is autistic so smells and cleanliness is a big thing for him. We lasted 30 mins before we packed up and left to find somewhere else to stay. Completely ruining his 13th birthday

Liked Great basic campsite. The bell tents were excellent value for money and the owners were helpful with our arrival and during our stay. Shower was handy! Our kids had a great time and all of the other campers were friendly! Had a lovely stay. Excellent value for money. We visited Warwick Castle which only took 40mins to get to. Morrisons and McDonald’s 8 minute drive away!

Disliked Toilets are portable loos which can get a bit pongy in this heat -but it’s better than a bucket!

Liked Incredible value - wholesome, rustic camping. Owners are lovely - their farm shop was great too! Picked up some lovely fruit for breakfast. Would stay again. Bell tent was incredible value.

Liked Spent the weekend with the kids and some friends. I had a fabulous time. The host was very helpful. Traditional Camping at its best. The Tents were massive, Toilets...not the cleanest, but we were camping after all, and a wonderful shower -which exceeded my expectations. We had a BBQ and opportunity to roast marshmallows for the kids. I will definitely go back again before the school holidays end. Loved it.

For watching high-octane pursuits like motor-bike racing, you’ll have to catch the right day at Mallory Park Racing Circuit (10 minutes’ drive). Take a waterside stroll in Market Bosworth Country Park (10 minutes), or learn more about the notorious battle of 1485 on guided walking tours at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (also 10 minutes), where the kids can dress up as knights for the day and there are occasional weekend enactments of fiercely fought medieval battles. If you’d like to know more about the infamous King Richard III, whose remains were found in a Leicester car park, visit his royal tomb at the King Richard III Visitor Centre (40 minutes).
