What customers say
This peaceful, nature-focused campsite is praised for its friendly and helpful owner, Harry. Guests enjoyed the woodland adventure area with swings and a trampoline, a swimming pool (available for hire), and its proximity to Cossington Meadows nature reserve and local pubs. While facilities are basic, they are generally well-maintained, with ongoing improvements planned for the toilet block. Some guests noted minor road noise.

What a wonderful couple of nights we’ve had at this campsite
So much thought has gone into this campsite in all areas, for us it really did get children playing outside. They were playing in the woodland for hours!
The badger trail is beautiful as are the surrounding spaces where the children can play.
So many opportunities for play time in a magical woodland space.
The site is immaculate, Harry really keeps on top of it it has a natural shower shed type composting toilets and supplied fire pits. Harry, the host is most attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended by us and our children who are missing the site already!
Thanks for having us stay!
Disliked Nothing at all.

Lovely place for tents and fair price.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Grassy field to pitch tent and very clean composting toilets. Shower also available, cold but invigorating after the hot day. Harry was very welcoming and showed us around his garden. There are walks around the campsite and a pub for meals close by.

From the manager: Love that "invigorating" description of our shower, fresh from Severn Trent mains. Welcome to our first Aussie campers.
Lovely campsite with a great atmosphere. We’ll return.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Lovely campsite with a really friendly atmosphere. Having access to the gardens with the swings, and to the swimming pool, was lovely. We got some automated instructions via WhatsApp which was helpful. Close to the pub and the garden centre with a cafe. Facilities are basic but do the job. Real community atmosphere. Access to meadow walks nearby. Lots of blackberries in the bushes!
Disliked The toilet paper was a bit low in the compost toilets. That was all!

We booked two nights at Cossiwild…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We booked two nights at Cossiwild campsite, a little bit hard to find on the road as it's not signed posted. That being said the campsite is in beautiful surroundings with the best sunset.
This campsite is an eco friendly site with compost toilets witch were clean and well plenished, outdoor shower, which we found perfectly fine, in fact better that some of the bigger sites we have stayed on
You can pay to hire a fire pit for about £7 with plenty of fire wood from the forest, you can book the swimming pool for a hourly fee, or walk one of the many country foot paths in the nature reserve.
Harry the site owner is super friendly, chatting with all on site, he wants people to explore and enjoy the beautiful Leicestershire country side.
Best part is you don't need to pack up by 11am like most sites, you can leave when ever on the day.
Lovely pub in the village 8 minute walk, garden centre with cafe same distance.
Would we stay here again, definitely yes.
Disliked Needs a sign post outside the gate.

From the manager: Lovely to have you and enjoyed your very chilled set up. Quite right about the sign, I had one but someone nicked it, for the second time. So I'll try again. Welcome back next time.
Fantastic family friendly semi wild camping.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked It was really easy to book, the owner of the site was lovely and friendly, had good communication when I needed to ask questions, and was very accommodating when we arrived, helping us set up a fire pit and showing us where everything was.
The campsite itself was absolutely gorgeous and amenities perfect. The access to compost toilets, outdoor shower, drinking water, waste and recycling bins, fire wood, level ground and adventure woodland made our trip easy and accessible (I’m a disabled person and my friend had a broken foot at the time we camped) and I have no issues with any of it. The ability to hire an off ground fire pit we could cook on was a huge bonus. We can’t wait to return. Our only regrets are that we couldn’t stay longer, and didn’t get round to being able to use the outdoor heated pool.

From the manager: Great to have you and your party with us Hollie, fantastic happy campers.
Never again.

Liked Friendly reception by the owner
Proximity of a pub.
Disliked Disappointed that pool use was advertised but this was not the case. It was the reason I selected this camping.
Outhouses and urinal (haystack) were really ridiculous. Basically wild camping but paying 20 pounds.

From the manager: Dear TN,
I've noted your comments but please, for you to note:
You arrived after 5:30, and I guided you in, offering a choice of pitches for you then to set up. I explained that you would not be able to use the pool as it closes at 6, and one family had already booked until then. Sorry if you expect all hours, I can't do that.
Others have commented on the good facilities and activities, especially for children and nature lovers. They have also noted the clean composting toilets, and the straw system is by the way recognised practice in low impact camping.
You are right about the lack of WiFi, I don't offer any and I make good on my offer.
But if it's any consolation you had a cheap night as you didn't pay the £7 for a car, arriving on a very impressive 1250cc BMW touring bike. The policy states that a motorbike can be substituted for a car, but the £7 reduction is to respect those who come under their own power on foot or cycle.
Anyway, safe journey back to Finland and probably won't see you again.
Kind regards, Harry
