Splendid simplicity is what it’s all about at Cossiwild Camping – this Leicestershire site is a place where you can really embrace nature without having to travel too far from urban amenities. Leicester city centre is a mere 20-minute drive from this Soar Valley site, but you’ll feel a world away in this quiet spot flanked by open meadows and mature trees. It’s the kind of place where you’ll be woken by the dawn chorus and may well spot a buzzard gliding overhead or hear a woodpecker going about its business in the woods. The presence of nature on site is partly due to its location next to Cossington Meadows nature reserve, a wetland area with resident and migratory birds. You can walk straight out onto the reserve from the site, making this an excellent spot for walkers, runners, wildlife-hunting kids and keen birdwatchers alike. When the kids aren’t out looking for bugs and birds, they can be playing on site – there’s always space for a ball game, and they’ll have access to play kit including a giant trampoline and a rope swing. Explore the Badger Trail all around the site, too, and look out for birds from the Warblers Bothy. As a quiet site, amplified music is not permitted at any time. Facilities on site are basic, just stretching to compost toilets and picnic tables, but you’ll be allowed to hire a firepit and grill tray to make a barbecue (for an additional fee); plenty of wood is available on site. Handily, the village of Cossington is only five minutes’ walk away for a pub and café, and there are shops in both Sileby and Rothley (both five minutes’ drive).

Positiv My granddaughter and I found this absolute gem of a place just 10 minutes away from home! We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. My granddaughter particularly enjoyed the giant swings and the trampoline, and we both had great fun in the lovely pool. The badger trail was fab and it was a special treat to see real live actual badger setts 🦡 so cool.
The peaceful nature of this site is just one of its many charming qualities. It was so calm and relaxing with beautiful views and the sounds of so many different birds twittering and singing away, which we enjoyed whilst swinging on the rope swing! There is plenty to see and do here without there being too much to do, there's time to slow down and just enjoy the countryside and amble through the day until the evening comes and then theres the roaring fire to look forward to...Harry was more than happy to share his wisdom on starting fires so don't worry if you're no expert!!
Harry is an all round genuinely interesting, kind, informative and great host...and for all of the above, we will surely be back time and again!!

Positiv Cossiwild Camping
What a wonderful couple of nights we’ve had at this campsite
So much thought has gone into this campsite in all areas, for us it really did get children playing outside. They were playing in the woodland for hours!
The badger trail is beautiful as are the surrounding spaces where the children can play.
So many opportunities for play time in a magical woodland space.
The site is immaculate, Harry really keeps on top of it it has a natural shower shed type composting toilets and supplied fire pits. Harry, the host is most attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended by us and our children who are missing the site already!

Positiv lots of space, drinking water was cold and clean, swimming pool was very fun, compost toilets were clean and regularly checked on, good walks around the campsite. i went here with me and my friends (6 people) and we all enjoyed it a lot!!
