What customers say

This campsite offers spacious, private pitches in a beautiful, unspoilt setting next to the River Wye, with stunning views. Facilities, including individual toilets and hot showers, are consistently praised for their cleanliness and daily maintenance. While some guests found it tricky to locate and noted nearby road noise, the peaceful atmosphere, generous spacing between pitches, and attentive host are highly valued. The option of canoe access and proximity to Ross-on-Wye are also highlights.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Tipi Adventure is a gorgeous site, the pitches are so well spaced and the toilets and showers are very good. As a solo camper on this occasion, I liked that I only had to pay for myself to camp. Loved the wild flowers and the birds, and I saw dragonflies, pheasants and rabbits. If you're a minimalist camper or a group with plenty of people to move your gear, it's perfect! Even though it was busy during the weekend I stayed, with most pitches were in use, it never felt crowded and other campers were far enough away to just be background noise.

Disliked As a solo camper it was hard work getting everything from the carpark to my pitch (and particularly back again as it was really hot when I was packing up to leave) by trolley. The 'short walk' is not particularly short after the 4th time with a trolley full of stuff in blazing sun, I've decided I'll only camp where I can take my car to my pitch in the future, even if I have to move it off again after unloading. The unending rumble of traffic from the A40 does spoil the peace somewhat, but I knew about that before I arrived, and there's not exactly much the site owners can do about it! The showers are also just too hot, I don't know if the owners are able to turn them down?

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked This is a beautiful campsite. The pitches are spaced out generously, cut out of a pretty meddow filled with wild flowers and ancient Oak trees. The pitches and paths are mowed down with clear signs for each pitch. We stayed on Wye Salmon which was plenty big enough for 3 big tents, and an event shelter. A wooden picnic bench is also provided on each pitch. You are alocated a toilet for your pitch so your dont share with other campers, and there are 8 showers on site. The car park is located outside of the field and wheel barrows are provided to take your stuff to the pitch. Sarah the host/site owner is only a text message away. She is very friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. She sent an email before our stay to make sure our family were pitched together. Sarah came every day to clean the toilets, showers and washing basin. There is no drinking water on site so you will need to bring your own. This is the only thing I would say other people commnted on. We were happy to bring our own and Ross on Wye is a 8 minute drive away with plenty of supermarkets for supplies. We has stunning weather throughout our stay which made all the difference. The site is located just off the river Wye, so you can also arrive by canoe, which lots of people did while we were there. There are also walks in both directions. We had a dog with us which are also allowed for a small extra fee. This site is good value for money. I would say its luxury wild camping with the bonus of having clean facilities available. The price is reasonable. We will definitely come back again and look forward to more camps in the future.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very spacious pitches with lots of beautiful wildlife and ancient oak trees kept untouched.
Pristine cleanliness showers and toilets cleaned and restocked daily with individual toilets for each pitch
Very close to Ross-on-wye and other local attractions and activities.
Right next to a beautiful river
We did not see the owner nor there was a check in, but she was very easy to contact and has provided very clear instructions before the trip.
Plenty of wheelbarrows to transport items from the car
Excellent phone reception throughout the campsite.

Disliked It was a bit awkward to access especially for our little car with lots of big rubble on the ground and windy tracks.
Right next to a busy A road so you can hear it throughout the day but it was easy to ignore.
No drinking water in the campsite.
Quite pricey.

Local attractions

Cram your days full of adrenaline-fuelled adventures if you wish, but it's highly possible you'll need a little breather now and then: a good place to start is Goodrich Castle, a well-preserved medieval number a five-minute drive or 40-minute walk away. Checking out the pretty flutterers at Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo (five minutes' drive) is a good way to spend a laidback couple of hours, as is watching the rather grander flying displays at the International Centre for Birds of Prey (20 minutes). Tintern Abbey and Clearwell Caves (both 25 minutes) are good additions to the schedule too. If you’d rather keep the activity going but at a gentler pace, take a walk on one of the trails within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or make your way to the local cycle centre (15 minutes' drive), to hire bikes to take out on 11 miles of traffic-free Forest of Dean trail. Segway tours and a Go Ape adventure park are in the forest too, 20 minutes’ drive away.
