Camping this way

  • Simple pitches at a peaceful Herefordshire working smallholding
  • Hereford 15 minutes' drive; five minutes to the Wye for fishing
  • Family-friendly site; kids can collect eggs and feed animals
Heading to Herefordshire in search of a slice of the simple life? You’ll certainly get that at Primrose Smallholding and Camping – guests here join the goats, sheep, chickens and other resident animals at a working smallholding in a lovely, peaceful setting near the little village of Holme Lacy. Book in at this family-friendly site and you’ll be staying in a three-acre field where guest numbers are capped to make sure everyone has plenty of space to pitch up and relax, and for kids to run about and play games in the open air. They’ll also be able to enjoy farm activities like collecting eggs or feeding the goats and sheep. Eggs are also available to buy for a taste of the farm with your breakfast or dinner. To cook up those meals, you’re welcome to bring along a barbecue or firepit (no open or ground fires, thanks, and please supervise children at all times). There’s a hot portable shower, spotlessly clean event toilets and a hot-water washing-up area on site; other facilities include a fresh drinking water point, a communal fridge and freezer, a central phone-charging point and recycling and waste facilities. Heading out and about, there are plenty of walks nearby (Haugh Wood, 10 minutes’ drive away is a favourite) and the River Wye is five minutes’ drive away for coarse fishing, canoeing or paddleboarding. And while this place feels very rural, it’s actually only a 15-minute drive to the centre of Hereford – head there by day to explore the historic city centre or ask on site about the subsidised taxi service for an evening out.

From the manager: Thanks for your review and your visit to Primrose Smallholding Rebecca.
We really appreciate your feedback and we're glad you felt the site was very good value for money and clean. Regarding your comment about numbers, we don't restrict the number tents per booking plus we allow more than one vehicle because some families arrive separately. Even so I'm sure you agree there is still loads of room for campers and children to enjoy!

Hana R. 1 review

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Friendly family run, good location, great views, really clean toilets, fridge and freezer and charging point, such a chill/Friendly vibe and the animal feeding in the morning is really fun

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hana, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a nice a review. We have added a number of site facilities which you have mentioned based on customer feedback last year so we're happy you found these useful. With the scorching Bank Holiday weather you experienced (amazing wasn't it), the freezer and fridge was certainly well used! Like you, we felt the vibe over the whole weekend was really chilled! Come back anytime, and thanks again for visiting with your children.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great site, very spacious pitches, very friendly owners they could not of done anymore for everyone , games for everyone to use, clean facilities, small farm area for children to feed them each morning, gated so felt very safe for children.

Disliked One tiny issue, we would have liked the grass a bit shorter. But would not stop us coming back anytime.

From the manager: Hi Natasha, thank you for leaving us such a nice review, we genuinely appreciate that. I am glad you and your children had a lovely time with us and made use of the facilities. We currently use a tractor flail mower to cut the grass but it has been growing so fast in these ideal conditions! We hope to invest in a dedicated grass mower next year. Thanks for visiting, please do come back soon.
