Midway Holiday Park: Evening sunshine on the valley

General

  • Well-equipped family camping field in Herefordshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to Hampton Court Castle, and 35 minutes to Hereford
  • Café, shop and garden on site; local pubs within walking distance

Those hunting for a handy Herefordshire spot should do rather well at Midway Holiday Park – as the name suggests, it's right in the thick of the action, close to several National Trust properties as well as Hereford, with its historic Gothic-era cathedral.

There’s plenty to keep outdoor types entertained around this family-run spot too, with woodland walks straight from the camping meadow and plenty of peaceful countryside to explore. (Incidentally, if you're planning something more elaborate, it's handy to note that this site also makes a smart overnight stop on the long-distance Land's End to John O’Groats cycling route.) And if you’re longing for a break where you can simply potter around spotting wildlife, well, this is your place too, with an abundance of nature in surrounding fields.

With a handy shop and a café with pretty gardens on site, you can keep yourselves fed and watered with little effort, and there are several local pubs within walking distance if you fancy a change of scenery.

On-site facilities include level grass pitches close to the shower and toilet block, plus electric hook-ups, standpipes for running water and a recycling point. There’s easy access to the site from the road and plenty of parking space as well.

Please note

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The grocery shop is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

The bar is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Very good basic site with cafe and shop. Staff were very friendly and did a morning check making sure everything was ok. Just before leaving they invited us to see the newly born lambs and the kids loved it.

We really enjoyed the scenery, and the owners kindly introduces us to the baby lambs and the adult geese on the site. The site benefits from level clean pitches. We had a lovely full English breakfast in the Cafe that's available on the site, and the owners where very welcoming and friendly. We would recommend this site to all.

the owners were very friendly and did say if there was anything we needed to just ask. very peaceful once traffic had gone on an evening, good for anyone who just wants to sit and watch the world go by. The children could play without us worrying they was gonna go off the campsite or on to a main road.

Owners were friendly and I think in better weather this would be a good location to stay - very attractive scenery all around.

The owners operate a café and small shop in their conservatory - the breakfast was really excellent and very good value.

    Disliked:

The 'pitches' are in fact a line to the side of a small car park.

The toilets and shower are in a portacabin - adequate, but have come across better.
