Midway Holiday Park: Evening sunshine on the valley

General

  • Well-equipped family camping field in Herefordshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to Hampton Court Castle, and 35 minutes to Hereford
  • Café, shop and garden on site; local pubs within walking distance

Those hunting for a handy Herefordshire spot should do rather well at Midway Holiday Park – as the name suggests, it's right in the thick of the action, close to several National Trust properties as well as Hereford, with its historic Gothic-era cathedral.

There’s plenty to keep outdoor types entertained around this family-run spot too, with woodland walks straight from the camping meadow and plenty of peaceful countryside to explore. (Incidentally, if you're planning something more elaborate, it's handy to note that this site also makes a smart overnight stop on the long-distance Land's End to John O’Groats cycling route.) And if you’re longing for a break where you can simply potter around spotting wildlife, well, this is your place too, with an abundance of nature in surrounding fields.

With a handy shop and a café with pretty gardens on site, you can keep yourselves fed and watered with little effort, and there are several local pubs within walking distance if you fancy a change of scenery.

On-site facilities include level grass pitches close to the shower and toilet block, plus electric hook-ups, standpipes for running water and a recycling point. There’s easy access to the site from the road and plenty of parking space as well.

Please note

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the park are unlit.

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The grocery shop is open between 01/01 et 31/12.

The bar is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Enjoyable stay on a basic site10/04/2021

The location was good, but a bit too far from the nearest pub/village having to walk on a busy road in the dark, with a wheelchair.
Staff were very friendly and helpful with a shop/cafe that offered all that we asked of it.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately there was no wifi and the toilets/showers were very basic with a £1.50 charge for a shower. The lack of facilities does not really reflect the cost of the stay

Only thing I would suggest is a revamp of the toilet / shower block to make it even better

A very warm welcome from the owners. Wendy was awesome. The site is basic, but ample facilities and clean and level. Catered for our Friday night party of 10 with a delicious home cooked dinner with fresh veg/fruit from their own garden and breakfast with eggs fresh from their chickens! Gave our friends lifts back to their nearby B&B too! Overall a lovely stay. Thank you Wendy. Will definitely return.

    Disliked:

Not a lot in walking distance and roads too busy to walk anyway. But beautiful towns nearby by car.
