Evening sunshine on the valley

  • Family-run site in gorgeous rural Herefordshire
  • Within 20 mins' drive of Leominster, Presteigne, Kington and Ludlow
  • Family-run patisserie on site with indoor and outdoor seating
Those hunting for a friendly place to stay in Herefordshire should do rather well at Midway Holiday Park – as the name suggests, it's right in the thick of the action, close to several National Trust properties as well as Hereford, with its historic Gothic-era cathedral. The scenic family-run site is just outside of rural Aymestrey, where there's a riverside pub within walking distance. It's a great pick for couples and family holidays, with lots of green open space. The on-site (family-run) patisserie sells baked goods – sweet and savoury – and has both indoor and outdoor eating, with the latter overlooking the private gardens and fields. As for practical matters, the site also has a toilet and shower block, and there's electric hook-up and hardstanding for parking. There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained here, that's for certain. As a dog-friendly site, any owners visiting with their well-behaved furry companion will be pleased that there are walks a short distance away. As for those wanting to visit the nearby National Trust locations, they include Croft Castle and Parkland (five minutes' drive) and Berrington Hall (15 minutes' drive).

This could be a nice small site if a bit more care was taken.

Jacob's Folly cabin

Liked Nice quiet site. The TV worked !

Disliked Wish I had read the last review before booking. There was no fridge despite one advertised on website which is a problem in hot humid weather as it was this weekend. Luckily we were only staying one night if we had booked for two the food in our toolbox would have been ruined
Despite temps being in the mid 20s there was a very thick winter duvet on the bed. There were no plates, knives, forks or spoons. Not even a bin liner in the bin. Curtains didn't fit the windows and the blind was flimsy so no light was kept out.
No washing up facilities.
Showers and toilets very basic and could only get hot water out of the tap not good for cleaning teeth.
Cafe and deli advestised on website was non existent. Suggest they update their listing to reflect what is actually there. Which is not much .

Jacob's Folly cabin

Liked Both the cabin and the area were nice.

Disliked No fridge in the cabin, as claimed - in 35 degree heat it was a critical component to my plan for the holiday, for drinks and salads etc.

No internet provided, although claims there is, you can join a network, only near the toilets and cafe, yet no internet provided even when you join it.

The cafe was closed (Friday evening > Monday morning) unsure if only due to weekend or what, there were no signs.
No signs for checkin area, no signs for cafe hours, pretty much no information at all really.

Could be a great little site if they sorted out points listed above.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Was very clean and tidy

Disliked If you advertise an on site bakery & Cafe then this should be up and running, shower facilities were poor and searching for an electric hook up in a hedge wasn’t perfect.
Site signage was poor.
Hard standing pitch was a gravel road.

Disappointed we didn’t receive what was advertised.
