Pub

  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The hunters Inn, was a little gem of a place to stay, staff were very helpful and polite on arrival and explained everything well, we were given a small map and codes to the locked access gate along with optional electric token/card. The pitches were of a good size for are camper (VW transporter T6.1) and awning, the beer garden has lovely lighting which was a nice touch when sitting out at night relaxing. The toliet/shower blocks were good size and clean and modern. People's reviews of the toliet/shower blocks are unfair the pub provides good facilities, however people that use them might need to look at how they treat theses facilities!!! Yes they are cleaned and kept clean but unfortunately some people who stay on site dont care about how they treat other people's property or care what state they left them in after using them, which then leaves the next person with a bad experience again not the pubs fault. Overall the stay was very good and will definitely visit again great little place and pub does great food and drinks and good atmosphere definitely recommend

Disliked Other people's bad habits when using communal areas!!!

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely site . Great new shower block . Clean and tidy

Disliked Beware . !!!!! . A party of 5 people . When checking in ,asked about last orders for pub food . Was told 8.30 . Turned up to order 8.05 was told missed the deadline no more food available other than crisps and nuts . Asked to speak to manager and pointed out that pitch up also said food till 8.30 their response was pitch just put anything they want on their site . they also refused to take orders . Staff were quite rude and called us liars . Although it was there in black and white . Was told if we didn’t like there decision we were free to leave the site . What a disappointing response . We have stayed there a few times previously. Their loss . 5 meals plus drinks . And won’t be returning.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as a historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills National Landscape, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
