  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally-produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Site is in a good location for visiting all around the Cotswolds. The food in the pub is very good, both Sunday carvery and evening meals. Pitches are a very good size and there is easy access.

Disliked: The toilet and shower block could do with being updated as a bit tired and small. Not a problem for us as we were almost the only ones on the site but would be difficult if there were more pitches occupied as only three showers.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Decent sized pitch. Small site. This was our first venture indoor camper van with awning and wanted a local place in case of any issues. Stayed 2 nights and on Sunday we were the only campers. Great Sunday lunch at next door pub. Toilets and shower with plenty of hot water

Disliked: There was only one shower in each of the men's and ladies. May be an issue if the site at full capacity

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Booked last minute. As in the pub carpark because the last place was so water logged we couldn't stay. As always lady owner was lovely. The pub atmosphere is just perfect. The food is exceptional. If I could pick it up and put it in Shrewsbury I would. The facilities were clean. It was wet and muddy but it didn't spoil our 2 night stay. We will definitely stay again

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to write a review of your stay, it was great to see you again, glad you enjoyed your food, we are very proud of the food our chefs produce and happy that others enjoy it also, we are hoping for some dry weather as we are strugglong with mud apart from the actual hard standings. hope to see you again soon.

Liked: Pub was fine

Disliked: The whole site should not have been open pitches were water logged and the whole grass area was a bog terrible conditions not fit for perpose also we paid for electric hook up but still had to pay for electricity that’s a new one on me and everyone else said the same not good good value for money especially being water logged my brother and other members of my family were there also and we all agreed the same will not be returning.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, I am very dissapointed to read your complaints on here and would have much preferred to discuss them with you when I served your drinks at the bar. Pitch Up does describe the pitch as an "optional" electric hook up in the description but it does show electricithy as an extra cost, I am sorry you didnt see that and it came as a surprise. As for the weather, we are really hoping for some drastic drying up, the hard standing pitches are fine but the whole site where grass is is extremely wet with a lot of surface water and it becomes wet if you walk on it, we are very happy that campers can walk to the toilets and the pub without stepping onto grass or leaving a path so it does not make using the site impossible. I'm sorry that you didnt enjoy your visit.

An excellent pub. Excellent food and service. Thank you. I can imagine…

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: An excellent pub. Excellent food and service. Thank you. I can imagine that on a warm, or at least dry, day, enjoying a meal and a drink in the pub garden and then retiring to the MoHo a few metres away would be terrific. As it was, I visited after 2 months of near-continuous rain and the whole place - the whole county - is a quagmire. But there's nothing anyone can do about that. A really good place to stop over (I was one my way from east to west, I believe other travellers were doing the reverse).

Disliked: Facilities are basic but perfectly adequate for what I needed on this occasion.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to write your review, we are eagerly awaiting those sunny evenings with a lovely sunset in the beer garden, however the incessant rain ( as you mentioned ) has left everywhere very wet, we are glad to hear it didnt spoil your short stop, hope to see you again soon.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Hard standing as grass wet. We arrived late and great to be able to pre order so we had a meal waiting before they stopped serving. Food great, steak amazing! Shower warm and clean. Loved pub being on site! Beer was very welcome after a 5 hour delay due to road being closed

Disliked: Wet and muddy but that’s not there fault. Cable wouldn’t reach for electric but were offered a move.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to review your stay, its great to hear you enjoyed your meal and time in our pub, we are really looking forward to some dry weather as grass is really wet outside of the hard standings.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as an historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
