  • Friendly campsite with woodland and mature oak trees
  • A 20-minute drive from Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye
  • Communal kitchen, shared central firepit and woodworking activities
Scouts Field Campsite is a friendly and well-maintained campsite surrounded by countryside on the edge of the Gloucestershire village of May Hill. With woodland surroundings, great simple facilities and real community spirit, this family-friendly site is well-suited to back to basics getaways on the western edge of Central England. The site is part of the gorgeous Huntley Estate, a large tract of woodland situated between the villages of Huntley and Clifford’s Mesne. It's a short walk from the summit of May Hill, where there are stunning views across nine counties and over to the Malvern Hills, the Severn Vale and, on clear days, the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Set over an acre of open grassland, this site has a fair few mature oaks and lots of spacious grassy plots to choose from. Amenities here include two dry compost toilets, two hot showers running on a gas-fired system, a central communal firepit and a shared kitchen area with a woodfired and gas stove. There is also a stone barn with seating available in case of wet weather. The site is directly behind May Hill's village hall, which hosts a range of local events throughout the year (including its ever-popular pop-up pub on the first Friday of every month). Woodworking activities may also be available.
