Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely little location with easy access from the M5 (and far enough to not hear any of the associated traffic). Pitches are a really decent size and flat. Owner seemed very chilled too! There is a cafe next door which serves food and drinks, which has been done out beautifully, recommend to those who visit. Plenty of local walks! Canal is an hour twenty walk away for those who want to go on an adventure

Disliked Nothing. Other reviews have moaned about a farm smell. We only got this slightly when it was windy and by no means ruined our trip and it should certainly not stop others because its a great campsite!!!!

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, electric hook ups, showers good

Looked like there is a lovely cafe owners by samed people, sadly only open weekends so for us we couldn't try the delights. I do understand why tho. :)

Disliked Bins overflowing when we arrived,.was not cleared until departure
Toilets/showers minimal could do with an upgrade incl more being installed.
Ongoing problem it seems (as per owner) washing area sink leaks, reported and owner states he knew about it, keeps happening and he'll get his screwdriver!!

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked This is a great little campsite. 20 or so pitches. Very peaceful and within short walks to the river Severn (a few minutes).

The local pub, The Red Lion, is less than 10 minutes walk away with great food and a warm welcome.

Great to see farm animals, including a pot-bellied pig, goats and cattle.

A trip to Frampton-on-Severn (3 miles by road, or 4 if you walk following the river) is recommended. It has Britain’s longest village green with a pub, a village shop and a cricket pitch/clubhouse. The cricket pitch has the shortest boundaries I’ve ever seen so hitting a six must be a frequent occurrence (be ready to catch the ball if sitting outside the pub/shop!).

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Beautiful surroundings

Disliked Flies, lots of flies. Loud banging and crashing from adjacent farmyard. Strong farmyard smells (to be expected) But mostly the lack of cleaning of the bathrooms. I stayed for 6 nights, and the only time that they were summarily cleaned was when I texted the owner to say that they were looking grim. This included a weekend when the campsite was pretty much full, including families with children, and no attempt was made to clean the bathrooms or empty the bins. I understand that campsite bathrooms can get messy, but then so should they, and implement a cleaning schedule accordingly. The toilets at their nearby cafe, on the other hand, are absolutely glorious, so I’m not sure why the campsite’s ones are so neglected.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The layout of each pitch and the boarders between were perfect to add just enough privacy. Perfectly sized ,as to be not overrun by eachother.

Disliked firstly we know it's a farm we checked it out before we booked it and knew. The actual farm noises the milking and the dairy lorries were really not that noticeable after the first night.
The jack hammering, crashing banging and constant driving on the adjacent lane, were a constant pain. The flies! The flies the flies unbearable. No hot water for 3 days and facilities not cleaned in a week.

From M5, come off at Junction 13 and take the A38 towards Bristol. You will shortly see a garage on the left. Take the right turning signposted Frampton-on-Severn and continue to The Bell public house on the left. Pass through Frampton, continue straight over the canal bridge and go straight across (SP Arlingham and Fretherne). Do not follow the road to Saul. Continue for approximately 3 miles entering the village of Arlingham and turn left at Red Lion public house into Church Road. Pass the church on your right and West End Farm is on the right in about 250 yards.

Local attractions

West End Farm Campsite's local village is Arlingham, also in the River Severn's horseshoe bend and just off Junction 13 of the M5. The area around the village is fab walking and cycling land, of public footpaths, riverside ambles and flat peaceful roads – all set among the first-class scenery of the England/Wales border area. (Don't know where to start? Ask at the Red Lion for details of their hare, salmon, cattle and skylark wanders.) A couple of miles from the farm is the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, running between Sharpness and the old docks of Gloucester. It's a pleasant place to while away a few meandering hours, particularly around Patch Bridge, close to the Wildfowl Reserve at Slimbridge which has the world's biggest collection of captive wildfowl. Other local options are Berkeley and the Edward Jenner Museum, where the clever chap first figured out vaccination, and Berkeley Castle, where poor old Edward 2 met his grisly end. Gloucester Cathedral is nine miles from the site; a little further afield are the Norman castle of Goodrich and the Tudor National Trust-managed house of Newark Park.
