Nice pub
Level pitches throughout the site
The thames head inn, between cirencester and tetbury
There's plenty of greenery around the site

  • Peaceful site on the edge of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds
  • 10 minutes’ drive from the towns of Cirencester and Tetbury
  • In the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant
Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

What customers say

This small, well-maintained site is praised for its excellent location behind The Thames Head Inn, with many highlighting the pub's delicious, generous portions and friendly staff. Pitches are generally level and spacious, with EHU. While the site is convenient for exploring the Cotswolds and offers lovely walks, the sole combined toilet/shower facility is frequently mentioned as inadequate, particularly when the site is busy, and some note road noise. Despite this, many guests found it ideal for stopovers and intend to return.

Liked Staff were friendly and very helpful, the food in the bar was very good with a good selection and large portions and on a personal note the Guinness was good too. The camp site was what we had hoped for, it was small , well kept and everyone was very friendly. Facilities were clean and well maintained.

Disliked There was nowhere to wash the dishes and the toilets were a little far from the campsite. however the toilet was clean and the shower was amazing.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked Nicely spaced shingle with grass pitch with electric. Field for maybe 12 bands in total, with picnic tables centrally. Nice field footpath for dog walks. The food in the pub is really much better than the average pub, and the portions are huge. Facilities easy to get to. Loved having breakfast down the road at AV8 in the airfield.

Disliked Even better if there was a second toilet and shower. I think there was only one ?
